Let's enjoy the "grimy charm" of the combat armor from "Fang of the Sun Douglas" by assembling Doyusha's "Bushman"! 80's B-Grade Anime Plastic Model Natural History Vol. 4

Douglam: Fang of the Sun" (1981) is a film that symbolizes the plastic modeling boom of the 1980s, when the TV broadcast of the film was postponed for a year and a half due to the success of plastic model products. In a world where land combat robot weapons called combat armor (CB armor) with only a helicopter-shaped canopy and no face are used to fight, the main character, Dougram, is only one type of CB armor. Appearance: ...... Oh, this confrontation scheme is Gundam vs. Zaku!
So, based on the mass-produced Soltic, it would develop into the Guv, Dom, Gelgoog, etc. in "Gundam", right?　The Bushman, which appeared in episode 27, caught the eye of a boy who thought it was ......!　The name of the aircraft seems to be derived from a comedy movie starring Mr. Nikau ("Miracle World Bushman," released in 1980),...... but it has some kind of long, slender hands and a big knob. It looks ape-like. It's not the mobile suit-like development I was expecting, and I don't know the definitive difference between it and the Soltic: ...... all I know is that it looks ape-like!　For an amateur like me, it seems that the "variation development with only different proportions of the head and limbs" unique to CB Armor is too austere. However, if you assemble this kit, you may be able to understand the charm of this sober and austere kit.

The product name is the "Fang of the Sun DOUGRAM" collector's series, Bushman. It's a re-release (reprint) of the "Beginner's Collection" that Takara had developed along low-priced lines (300 yen). The scale of all 11 models was 1/80, 1/144, and so on, in so-called box scale.

▲ One of the features of the Beginner's Collection is this elbow joint. The arms don't bend. The knees bend, but at the time of its release in 1983, I was obsessed with the idea that "few movable joints = low specs for a model product" (in my case). I thought, "Well, the 300-yen Gundam moves like that!" I was a kid. I was just a kid, I'm ashamed to say.

In 1983, when the broadcast of "Dougram" was postponed and the product development entered its second year, Nitto Kagaku also released an even cheaper series for 200 yen. The "Dougram" series started out as SAK (Scale Animation Kit) with two lines, one for 500 yen and the other for 1,000 yen, in the 1/72 and 1/48 military model scales, but the large CB Armor cost as much as 3,000 yen. The large CB Armor cost as much as 3,000 yen, indicating the desire for a low-priced product for elementary school students with limited pocket money. Both series were reprinted by Doyusha, but perhaps this black bag is a bonus only for the reprinted version. ......?

▲ What, stickers of famous scenes: ......?　I heard that there are 75 episodes in total, but no matter what you buy, it is impossible to complete the series. ......?　The manufacturer seems to understand this point, and a reluctant call to collect as many as possible is printed on the bag.

▲ It was a sticker from Episode 37 "Operation Choice Crossing". I don't mind that they are randomly enclosed stickers, but there are no Bushmen in Episode 37 (only Soltic and Club Gunner). That kind of sense of haphazardness is the fun of this kind of omake!
