As Yui Ishikawa, she sings the trajectory of Violet in this album!
─ ─ A lot of time has passed since "Violet Evergarden the Movie" started showing in theaters. How do you feel now?
Ishikawa: I am relieved to know that many people have seen the movie, and at the same time, I am very glad that the creators' wishes have been received. We were able to decorate the end of Violet in a very wonderful way. I think fans had a lot of different imaginations about the ending of this movie, and we don't know how this story will be received until we actually receive feedback from them. I was very happy to hear that they were impressed and that the film was good.
─ ─ Following the release of the movie version, a vocal album "Letters and Doll ~Looking back on the memories of Violet Evergarden~" will be released along with a soundtrack album by Evan Call. The official description of the album is "an album expressing the path Violet Evergarden has taken so far, with songs by Yui Ishikawa (who plays Violet Evergarden).
Ishikawa: I had heard from Shigeru Saito, the music producer of "Violet Evergarden," that he wanted to make an album in which we could look back on the entire story in song, and that's how it came to be. However, at first I was a bit uneasy because the project was to have Violet sing, and I wondered if I would be able to do it. I talked to Mr. Saito about it directly.
─ So that's how it happened.
Ishikawa: I have sung character songs for various works, including some cool characters who didn't seem to sing. At that time, I sang the character songs with my own reason to sing what was in my heart, even though I did not usually express my feelings. I thought that Violet, who had finished the entire movie version, might be able to express her emotions in a song, but I told Mr. Saito that it would be difficult to express Violet's feelings in a song from the first episode, for example, because it would be impossible to express anything. As a result, it was decided that I, as Violet, would sing about her trajectory, and I became Yui Ishikawa (as Violet Evergarden).
─ When I listened to the whole song, I felt that it was an objective look at Violet's thoughts and her history from a slightly detached point of view.
Ishikawa: The people who wrote the lyrics and composed the music watched all the previous videos before they started working on the music. All the songs are in line with the stories of each episode of the TV series and "Gaiden," and although there are parts that directly sing about Violet's inner world, many of them are more like songs that look at the story from a bird's eye view.
