Puyopuyo" e-sports championship, schedule and regulations announced!

SEGA announced the schedule and regulations for the "National eSports Championship 2020" and "National eSports Championship 2020 KAGOSHIMA" competitions for the action puzzle game "Puyo Puyo" series, which is a Japan eSports Pro License certified title. The schedule and regulations for the "National Prefectural eSports Championship 2020" and "National eSports Championship 2020 KAGOSHIMA" were announced.

The e-sports tournaments are open to players residing in Japan who meet the requirements, with representatives from each regional block competing to become the best in Japan.


The "National eSports Championship 2020 Puyopuyo" will be held from November 28 (Saturday) to determine the representative players of each block. The representative players from each block will advance to the "National eSports Championship 2020 KAGOSHIMA Puyopuyo Division" to be held on December 26 (Sat.) and 27 (Sun.).


About the National eSports Championship 2020 Puyopuyo Division
This tournament will be held online sequentially from November 28 (Sat) to determine the representative of each regional block.
The winners of this tournament will be selected to participate in the "National eSports Championship 2020 KAGOSHIMA Puyopuyo Division" online tournament to be held on December 26 (Sat.) and 27 (Sun.), 2020, as representatives of their respective blocks.

Period: Saturday, November 28, 2020 - Saturday, December 19, 2020

Tournament Flow:
Each prefecture will be divided into the following 7 blocks, and matches will be held online to determine the block representatives. The finalists for the tournament will be decided in the preliminary round for each block, and the final tournament will be held to decide the representative player for each block.

About the "National eSports Championship 2020 KAGOSHIMA Puyopuyo Division
This tournament will be held online, based in Kagoshima Prefecture, for representative players from each block determined in the above-mentioned block representative preliminary "National Inter-Prefectural eSports Championship 2020 Puyopuyo Division".
Details regarding the time, regulations, and management of the tournament will be announced on the entry page when tournament entry opens on Friday, October 23.

■Changes due to the impact of the spread of the new coronavirus infection
The "National eSports Championship 2020 Puyopuyo Division", originally scheduled to be held in April 2020, has been postponed due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.


The offline tournament has been cancelled and the online tournament will be held.
The "Elementary School Division," in which only elementary school students can compete, has been cancelled due to the online format.
 However, elementary school players who meet the eligibility requirements may compete in the "General Division.
Prefectural qualifying rounds will be cancelled and block qualifying rounds will be held.


In addition, due to the cancellation of the Kagoshima 2020 National Athletic Meet Cultural Program, the event became its own e-sports tournament as the "National Prefectural e-Sports Championship 2020 KAGOSHIMA.
