*Screening postponed* "The Age of Space Battleship Yamato: The Selection of 2202 A.D.," to be released on January 15, 2021, with a special trailer!

A special trailer from the theatrical compilation "The Age of Space Battleship Yamato: The Selection of 2202 A.D.," which will be released on January 15, 2021, has been released.

The "Space Battleship Yamato 2199" series, a remake of the immortal masterpiece "Space Battleship Yamato," was broadcast on TV nationwide in 2013 and gained a huge following. The "Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love" series, a sequel inspired by "Farewell Space Battleship Yamato: Warriors of Love" that once caused a frenzy throughout Japan, was sequentially shown in theaters in seven chapters and broadcast on TV Tokyo from 2017.

The special compilation film "The Era of 'Space Battleship Yamato': The Selection of 2202 A.D.", which reconstructs both series from a new angle, will be released in theaters, in a special limited Blu-ray edition, and on digital sale from January 15, 2021 (Friday).

■January 13, 2021 addition.
In light of the spread of the new coronavirus infection and the declaration of a state of emergency by the Japanese government, it has been decided to refrain from screening the film from January 15 and postpone the screening. Advance tickets (Mubichike cards) purchased can be used for the postponed screenings.
In addition, the Blu-ray special limited edition scheduled to be released at the screening theaters on the same day (January 22 at A-on STORE, A-on STORE Premium Bandai branch, and Yamato Crew) and the sale of the digital cell-phone version will also be postponed.
Future plans will be announced on the official "Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love" website as soon as they are determined.

A special trailer for the film has just been released. A comment from Yuka Minagawa, who wrote the script for the film, has also arrived.

From the human landing on the moon in 1969 to the arrival at Mars in 2042 and the Battle of Gatlantis in 2202, "The Age of Space Battleship Yamato: The Selection of 2202" chronicles the entire voyage of mankind and Yamato, and has been specially edited to include new material currently under production.

Comment from Yuka Minagawa (scriptwriter)
That day, my cousin who was staying at our house took me, who was still in the first year of junior high school, out in the morning to go to the movies.
It took more than an hour by train to get to the movie theater in Shibuya, and the line was so long that I think I stood in line even longer than the time it took to get there.
I loved the "older brother" and enjoyed listening to him talk about manga and science fiction. We stood in line together and watched a movie together,
I still remember it more than 40 years later. When I was writing the screenplay for this project, I sometimes think back to that time with my "older brother.
I remember it well over 40 years ago, and when I was writing the script for this project, I sometimes felt like I was watching the reboot of the series in the 21st century with my "brother" from back then. So, even though I have long since passed the age of that "older brother," I still feel as if I am watching the series rebooted in the 21st century with him.
I have passed his age, but I still can't help but say, "How's it going? What do you think? Yamato is great, isn't it?
I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not, but it's a good thing.

Theatrical screenings, Blu-ray special limited edition, and digital sale will begin on January 15, 2021 (Fri.)!
