Character and Cast Comments

Wakana Sawamura CV: Yoshimasa Hosoya

Yukina's older brother who is serious and brotherly. He has the dignity of a man who looks like he could have a child, but he is 19 years old. He has been learning Tsugaru shamisen from Shogoro along with Yuki, and has won prizes at competitions, but he feels that his talent is not as good as Yuki's.

Q1: What is your impression of this work?
I felt that this is a work that tries to create a story by carefully depicting the flow of human thoughts and feelings.
I also felt that the director, sound director, and staff members were trying to create a work with the same intention. Q2: What is your impression of the character you play?

Q2: Could you tell us about your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role?
I thought, "I have been in this industry for a short time.
I look like an old man who is over 30 years old, but I have just come of age.
I feel sorry for the dialect instructor, but I am being taught Tsugaru-ben while being depressingly clinging to him. I'm going to have fun with it.

Shuri Maeda CV: Yume Miyamoto

A classmate at Umezono Gakuen, where Snow has been accepted. She is not very good with men and was the only member of the Tsugaru Shamisen lovers' group until Snow came along. Somehow he knows Shougoro's impromptu piece, "Haru Dawn," which is supposed to be an improvisation.

Yume Miyamoto (as Akari Maeda)

Q1: What is your impression of this work?
I thought that the Tsugaru dialect and other regional dialects added a lot of color to the atmosphere of the work. The shamisen performance, which was interspersed with a fast-paced atmosphere, made the audience's emotions rise even higher and drew them into the work more quickly. In fact, I was even able to perform the play while listening to the shamisen performance. The power of the original manga will be captured on film.
Please look forward to it!

Q2: What is your impression of the character you are playing and how do you feel about the role?
I originally loved "club activities," a time and space that can only be experienced by students, so I was very sympathetic to Shuri's enthusiasm for the club activities and her friends. While Shuri is a bit shy, she is a very passionate girl with a strong heart for others. I will try my best to enjoy playing the shamisen together with Shuri and her friends. I look forward to working with you.

Yui Yamazato CV: Reina Kondo

A childhood friend of Shuri's, she is an otaku who loves anime and games. She happened to watch a live-streaming session in which Yuki performed, and knew of her talent for the shamisen. Auri invites her to join the Shamisen Club with Kaito.

Reina Kondo (played by Yu Yamasato)

Q1: What is your impression of this work?
I thought it was fascinating to see modern high school students tackling the traditional Japanese culture of the shamisen.
The expression of the Tsugaru shamisen tone in the performance scenes is very moving and moving. It made me even more interested in what on earth it would be like to hear the performance in an anime.
I hope many people, young and old, male and female, will watch this work!

Q2: What is your impression of the character you are playing and how enthusiastic are you about the role?
When I saw the audition script, I thought it looked like an interesting character! And an otaku! I felt like I could relate to him! I felt a strong affinity with him, and my desire to play the role of Yui grew stronger.
There are many wonderful things about Yui, such as her comical expression when she is an otaku and her serious expression when she is seriously engaged in playing the Tsugaru shamisen, and I will do my best to convey them to you through the anime!

Kaito Yaguchi CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto

He is a childhood friend of Auri and Yui, and is in the second grade, one grade above them. He used to tease Auri when they were children, but in reality, he has had feelings for Auri ever since then. He has a rivalry with Yuki, who is getting closer to Akari through the shamisen.

Nobuhiko Okamoto (as Kaito Yaguchi)

Q1: What is your impression of this film?
I thought the work had a very realistic atmosphere.
The key point was how to express the realism with my voice, and I was impressed by the shamisen sound in the rehearsal video.
I am very much looking forward to seeing how it will turn out when combined with the pictures.

Q2: Could you tell us about your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role?
At first I had the impression that she was rough, but she is a very sensitive girl.
I think the reason why she looks rough is because she says what she wants to say.
Snow gives the impression of being quiet, so I hope I can break that quiet scene in a good way.

Rai Nagamori CV: Tatsuo Suzuki

Rai Nagamori is a student at Umezono Gakuen and an experienced fine neckerchief maker. He is a member of the handicrafts club and has been practicing the shamisen with his mother since he was a child. His father is Yonefuku, a rakugo storyteller who, like Yuki, lives at the Tanukuchi Restaurant.

Tatsuo Suzuki (Rai Nagamori)

Q1: What is your impression of this work?
I felt that the work is very pure in terms of shamisen and sound.
There are ten different sounds and dramas in the intertwined human characters. I was impressed by the fact that they, with the shamisen in their hands, emit "sounds that are not supposed to be heard" as they read the manga. You don't know it, but it rings in your head.

Q2. Could you give us your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role?
At first glance, he is a storyteller. However, she is a girl with a strange imbalance, who looks around her carefully and acts calmly and passionately at times, which seems to be appropriate for her age, but is not.
I hope to work with the staff to bring you wonderful lightning.

Umeko Sawamura CV: Takako Honda

She is the mother of Snow and Wakana and the president of a large global corporation. She has left the care of her sons to their father, Shogoro, but when Yuki arrives in Tokyo with nothing better to do, she catches him and forces him to transfer to Umezono Gakuen.

Takako Honda (Playing the role of Umeko Sawamura)

Q1: What is your impression of this film?
I witnessed the intense ups and downs and conflicts of the characters' hearts along with the Tsugaru shamisen, but for some reason I felt a great sense of serenity in this work. I have a feeling that the world of "Mashiro-no-oto" that I read in the book will give me goosebumps with its sound.

Q2: What is your impression of the character you play and how do you feel about the role?
She is a charming and wonderful woman who is both dynamic and charming... I would like to defend her because it is my role, but I have the impression that she is a selfish mother (laugh). I would like you to feel what motivates her in the film.
