The "Sword Art Online" series of novels by Reki Kawahara (published by Dengeki Bunko) won the 15th Dengeki Novel Award (Grand Prize). The start of the anime project was announced at the "Sword Art Online Alicization-AfterWar" special event held on November 8 (Sun.), and now, "Sword Art Online Progressive the Movie It has been announced that it will be titled "Hoshinaki Yoru no Aria" (Aria on a Starless Night) and will be released in theaters in 2021.

The original novel "Sword Art Online Progressive" is a reboot series in which Reki Kawahara himself depicts the trajectory from the first layer of Aincrad, the stage of the death game, until the game is cleared. The series began in 2012 and is currently in its sixth volume.
