The "Zoids" series is a major content series that Takara Tomy has been developing since 1983 as an original toy IP. The name "ZOIDS" is a combination of the words "Zoic" (animal) and "Android" (man-made), and the name "Zoids" is a combination of the words "Zoic" and "Android. The name "ZOIDS" is derived from the words "Zoic" (animal) and "Android" (man-made human).
The toys, Real Moving Kits (assembled driving toys), come with electric motors or springs and move like a real life form when assembled.
In 2018, the company began developing "Zoids Wild," the latest in the series after a 12-year absence. In order to evolve Zoids into a new generation of Zoids while maintaining the toy's high level of perfection, the development team from the first Zoids (1983-) and second Zoids (1999-) have been passing on the technologies and ideas they have cultivated to younger members, while incorporating new perspectives brought by the younger generation.
This time, "ZOIDS Gensen" - ZOIDS CONCEPT ART EXHIBITION -, a concept art exhibition based on "ZOIDS" created by Mitsutoshi Tokuyama*, one of the creators of "ZOIDS," will be held at MoFA (Museum of Fantasy Art for Live Action VR).
