The gradation of special material is beautiful! Let's try making "Figure-rise Standard Kamen Rider Hibiki"! YU-GO's Character Modeling LABO Vol. 3

The theme of the third edition of "YU-GO's Character Modeling LABO" is BANDAI SPIRITS' plastic model "Figure-rise Standard Kamen Rider Hibiki"!

This year is the 15th anniversary year of "Masked Rider Hibiki," and we are very happy that the plastic model is coming out at that time.

The box art seems to be based on the image of Yakushima Island, the setting of the beginning of the main story, so expectations are high even before opening the box!

Let's open the box right away.

Suddenly, the sound-game drum came out with a thud! The Soga Iruka was amazed! Even Soga Iruka was surprised! Soga Iruka would have been surprised.

The parts look like this. The texture of the real suit has been reproduced using newly developed "polarized molding colors. This is really an amazing technology!

Even the mask parts are all separate parts! There is no need for masking at all!

As written in the development blog, the specifications have been worked out quite well.

The transformation tuning fork "Otokaku" has also been reproduced in fine detail.

The "Ondoke-bo (Sound Shooting Stick)" is also reproduced with clear parts, which is a nice touch. The word "Farewell" seems to come to life with the sound of the taiko drums.

The kit itself has many small parts, so care must be taken not to lose them during assembly. The reproduction level is quite high, and the body shape of Shin Ito, the suit actor who played the role of Hibiki, has been perfectly reproduced.

He is also quite well-trained, after all.

The figure looks great as it is, but I would like to make some modifications to it.

I was concerned about the mating lines on the entire body, so after gluing the pieces together, I removed all of the mating lines.

It takes quite a bit of time and effort, but I think the effect is well worth it.

When filling in the gaps after gluing, "Instant Color Putty Black" from Gaianotes was quite helpful.

The wrist parts are also shaved a little, and the fingers of the clenched fist are sculpted.

The "Transforming Tuning Fork Otokaku" was also detailed while looking at prop materials. It was shaved with a needle file and other tools.

The strong impact of the sound drum can be further enhanced by adding a little texture. I mixed melted putty with scenery ballast for model trains and applied it.

The loincloth was scrubbed with a melamine sponge and then washed with GSI Creos Mr. Weathering Color. I recommend this because you can easily reproduce the texture.

This time, to add another touch of color to the deflection molding, "SHOW UP MAZIORA Andromeda II" was used.

This paint was used for the actual suit, so it is a must-have for creating Hibiki.

Base Color Real Black" was used to retouch the joints after processing. The clear coat for the finish will be made with "1-component urethane clear for hobby use.

The body is non-surfaced in order to bring out the polarized molding color.

Completed!

Just by adding a touch to the polarized molding color, this finish is achieved!

The trick to reproduce the gradation of the suit realistically is to spray a little too much? The trick to realistically reproducing the gradation of the suit is to spray a little too much, and it will look just right.

The "one-component urethane clear" used for the coating was also perfect for creating a texture close to that of the real thing. It was fun to see how close the texture became to that of the actual suit as it neared completion.

A close-up shot of the face.

Various paints were used for different parts of the suit to make it as close as possible to the actual suit used for the photo shoot. The amount of information in the mask was increased by painting the details.

It is also important in plastic modeling to create a certain atmosphere by changing the texture of the paint.

This is a back shot of the "back that talks".

It is also possible to create an opening image.

Of course, the unique pose of Kyo-ki is also perfect! Shoo!

The pose he struck when he made a surprise appearance at the 56th Kohaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Singing Contest) can also be recreated!

Every detail is painted in after thorough examination of the materials.

On the pedestal, we placed a textured sound-game drum.

Decide! Ippiki hwase no kata!

I think this will be a nice accent when I make the "Transforming Tuning Fork Otokaku". If I may be selfish, I also wanted a disc animal. ......

I have felt that "green" fits the world of "Hibiki Oni" since the TV program aired, so I made a simple base for it.

I glued colored powder and other materials to driftwood, and I think I was able to create a "Japanese" atmosphere.

How did you like the serialization of "Masked Rider Hibiki"?

In the year of the 15th anniversary of "Masked Rider Hibiki," I am very happy to be able to create an example of Hibiki's work.

I remember that the style and worldview of Hibiki, with its "Japanese" atmosphere, was somehow warm and wholesome. I made this work while remembering many things from the time of its broadcast.

I hope it will resonate with many people. ......

See you again in the next example!

Bye!
