Report on "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA" just before its opening──Part 1]The attraction of the "Gundam in Motion" is presented to you in abundance! Don't miss the overwhelming presence of the 18-meter high Gundam!
Building a Walking Gundam!
It has been two years since such a grand project was announced, and now the time has finally come for the Gundam to stand its ground!
On December 19, 2020, "Gundam Factory Yokohama" will finally open in Yokohama's Yamashita Pier. This facility will display a full-scale Gundam 18 meters in height, as well as the "ACADEMY" that exhibits the development process and mechanism of the "moving Gundam," the "GUNDAM Café YOKOHAMA Satellite" where you can enjoy local Yokohama cuisine while viewing the Gundam, and "THE GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA" that sells original goods that can only be purchased there. The GUNDAM BASE YOKOHAMA Satellite is a complex facility where visitors can enjoy the "moving Gundam" by selling original goods that can only be purchased locally.
Prior to the opening, a preview for the mass media was held in early December, and Akiba Research Institute's editorial staff, feeling like Denim & Jean, sneaked into the site!
Let us introduce the highlights of the event in three parts.
After completing the admission procedures and passing through the "GUNDAM LABO" building, we found ......!
The "RX-78-2 Gundam" developed by the Earth Federation Forces for Operation V! Not ......, but actually this Gundam seems to be "RX-78 F00 Gundam" which is very similar to "RX-78-2 Gundam" sunk in Yokohama Bay. There are still many mysteries about this Gundam, and it is currently under investigation (......). In a sense, it is a top secret latest mobile weapon.
Let's get a little closer.
The figure standing quietly under the clear sky is truly divine .......
If you get even closer, you can see that it has a very high density of detail. The key point is the diagonal panel line. The diagonal lines on the chest, abdomen, and shoulders seem to emphasize a sleek image not seen in previous RX-78-2 Gundam models.
This Gundam is staged differently every hour and every hour and 30 minutes.
After the smoke erupts, the Gundam is thrust forward. It then takes a step forward with the familiar "Gogyuaaaan" drive sound from the animation!
Then it held out both hands and said, "Earth is good! Come on, everybody!" After striking a pose similar to that of the "Gogyuaaaan", the aircraft soars into the sky with its vernier spewing out from the catapult deck!
This is quite a powerful scene, and Gundam fans must be thrilled to see the launch sequence on this scale.
Personally, I was excited to see the Gundam fan's knees after he shouted "XX, I'm going! and then the mobile suit drops to its knees and launches from the catapult, I think this sequence is the beauty of the "Gundam" series and is the most exciting and classic scene.
Therefore, the way this scene is presented is truly wonderful! It makes me want to watch it again and again.
This Gundam can be viewed not only from below, but also from the side deck.
You can climb up to the "Gundam Dock," which houses the moving Gundam, by purchasing a ticket. Visitors can go up to the deck, which is about 5 to 6 stories high in a typical building, and enjoy the Gundam from up close.
Thus, it is possible to see the noble face from up close.
Caution marks are also clearly marked.
You can also look into the cockpit area.
Personally, I have a strong desire to look at the Gundam rather than ride in it, but looking at the cockpit up close, I found myself thinking, "I want to ride in it! The reality that an 18-meter Gundam actually exists is overwhelmingly compelling.
To enter "GUNDAM DOCK," you need to purchase a ticket on the "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA Official App" and "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA Ticket Purchase Web Page Don't forget that you need to purchase tickets on the "GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA Ticket Purchase Webpage!
Well, Gundam is really great!
Even if you are not a Gundam fan, you will be impressed by the "18-meter giant robot in motion! Even if you are not a Gundam fan, seeing a giant 18-meter robot in action is sure to impress you!
The "RX-78 F00 Gundam" can be called the extreme north of Japanese subculture at the moment. It is a must-see. Please take a look!
