Animation film director Mamoru Hosoda, who has been captivating audiences around the world, will release his long-awaited latest work in the summer of 2021, when Studio Map celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Hosoda's latest films include "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" (2006), "Summer Wars" (2009), "Wolf Children" (2012), "Bakemono no ko" (2015), and "Mirai no Mirai" (2018). All of his previous works have won the Japan Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and "Mirai no Mirai" won an Annie Award and was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Animated Feature category. His long-awaited latest work was announced in 2021, the year Studio Chizu celebrates its 10th anniversary next summer.

The contents of the film are still shrouded in secrecy, with only the title and a single piece of concept art depicting "U," the Internet world where the story takes place and where more than 5 billion people have registered their accounts worldwide.

Director Hosoda has previously directed "Digimon Adventure: Our War Game! (2000) and his masterpiece "Summer Wars", Hosoda has depicted how the developing Internet and digital technology are changing the way people live. Twelve years have passed since "Summer Wars. Director Hosoda has decided to use the Internet as his subject matter again, based on his latest findings.
