Uma Musume Pretty Derby" is a cross-media content developed by Cygames through games, anime, comics, etc. The story centers on a fictional racing competition called "Twinkle Series" in which Uma Musume, who are the inheritors of racehorses' souls, compete against each other and a "training school" where girls who aim to become top-class competitive Uma Musume attend. The story centers on the "Toresen Academy," a school for girls who aspire to become top-ranked competitive Uma Musume. In the story, the real names of the Uma Musume, which are based on famous horses such as Special Week, and races such as Satsuki-sho and Tennou-sho, will appear.

The TV anime "Uma Musume Pretty Derby" aired from April to June 2018, and the TV anime "Uma Musume Pretty Derby Season 2," scheduled to air from January 4, 2021, is the long-awaited sequel. In the first season, the story focused on Special Week and Silence Suzuka, but in "Season 2," the spotlight seems to be on Tokai Teio, who yearns for the legendary Triple Crown winner, Simbolirdorf, and his rival, Mejiro McQueen.

The anime "Season 2" is a story of rivalry between Tokai Teio and Mejiro McQueen!

Machico, who plays the role of Tokai Teio, commented on the TV anime that is about to air: "'Uma Musume Pretty Derby Season 2' stars Tokai Teio and Mejiro McQueen. I watched the first episode and the story developed quickly, and I had a feeling that the story was going to take a sudden turn in the last scene. At least in the first episode, I wanted to keep smiling until the end (laughs). I think it is a very strong first episode," he commented. Onishi, who plays the role of Mejiro McQueen, added, "The first season was about Special Week and Silence Suzuka, but I think the second season will be more about the rivalry between (Mejiro) McQueen and (Tokai) Teio.

The story of "Uma Musume" is based on the history of horse racing, and Tadokoro, who plays the role of Simbolildorf, said, "In the first episode, there was an unexpected turn of events that made me look up the history of horse racing in real life. In the first season, Simbolirdorf was a cool and dignified student council president, but in the second season, he has a human side and is like a father who watches over Tokai Teio," he said. The horsegirls and trainers of Team Spica, which were at the center of the story in the first season of the anime, will of course make an appearance in the second season. Mr. Waki, who plays the role of Special Week, said, "In the first postrecording of the first season, I couldn't relax because Spe-chan was talking all the time, but this time I feel more at ease participating as a supporter of the story. The recording in the studio was mainly done by a maximum of three people due to the recent new coronavirus. Machico said, "Most of the recording was done with me, Onishi who plays McQueen, Okino who plays Trainer, and Tadokoro who plays Simbolirdorf. I knew how the members of <Spica> interacted with each other, so I tried to imagine that as I played the role. Onishi said, "I feel relieved when I hear the voice of Spe-chan (the heroine of the previous film) during postrecording. I feel that in the second season, Spe-chan's clumsiness has increased. According to Ms. Tadokoro, recording with a small group had the effect of allowing the actors to concentrate on their interactions with each other during important one-on-one dialogue scenes.

The audience was asked a question unique to the New Year's holiday season: "If you were to write one kanji character to describe the Uma Musume you play, which one would it be? Tadokoro-san answered, "Father. （When Tadokoro answered, "Father. (Simbolirdorf's) fatherliness is amazing," Machico replied, "Son's breath.)
