SLAM DUNK", a milestone in basketball manga, to be made into an animated film! The original author, Takehiko Inoue, announced on Twitter!

An animated film adaptation of the basketball manga "SLAM DUNK," a milestone in basketball manga, has been decided.

This boys' manga by Takehiko Inoue was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from issue #42 in 1990 to issue #27 in 1996. The series has sold more than 120 million copies in Japan. The story follows the main character, Hanamichi Sakuragi, a basketball novice who joins the Shohoku High School basketball team and rapidly develops his talent as he clashes with his teammate Kaede Rukawa and competes against other strong schools. The story's depiction of gripping games and characters who put their adolescence on the line to play basketball resonated with readers and won overwhelming support. The TV anime was broadcast from October 1993 to March 1996, and a game was also produced.

This time, "SLAM DUNK" manga author, Takehiko Inoue, posted a message on his Twitter page, informing that a movie adaptation of "SLAM DUNK" has been decided.


The message, along with the words "SLAM DUNK" title, "It's going to be a movie! is attached to the message.
Along with the tweet, a teaser site and theofficial Twitter page for the film were also released.
