Spring 2021 Anime "SHAMAN KING" Announces Additional Characters to be Played by Nana Mizuki, Takumu Miyazono, and Tomoaki Kanze! Comments also arrived!

New characters and cast members have been announced for the TV anime "SHAMAN KING," which will begin airing on TV Tokyo in April 2021.

SHAMAN KING," a popular comic book series by Hiroyuki Takei that has sold more than 35 million copies, tells the story of a boy who can see spirits, Ip Asakura, who participates in shaman fights to determine the top shaman and fights alongside his friends to become the Shaman King. Currently, a new chapter, "SHAMAN KING THE SUPER STAR," is being serialized in "Shonen Magazine Edge" (Kodansha).
It will be adapted into a completely new TV anime in April 2021. Based on "SHAMAN KING" (35 volumes), the series will be drawn to the end.

The recent announcement of additional cast members and characters, the first key visual, and the first PV attracted a lot of attention from fans, and now new characters and cast members have been announced.

Nana Mizuki will play Tamao Tamamura, an apprentice shugenja.
Takumu Miyazono and Tomoaki Kanze will play Ponchi, a raccoon dog and fox spirit duo who are the spirits Tamao carries, respectively. Comments from Nana Mizuki, Takumu Miyazono, and Tomoaki Kanze have arrived.

Tamao Tamamura: CV Nana Mizuki
Tamao is an apprentice ascetic who is training with the Asakura family, a prestigious family of shamans. She is extremely shy and is not good at talking to people face to face, so she uses a sketchbook used for fortune-telling.

───Can you tell us about the charm of this work?
I think it is the personality of the main character, Ip!
The main character in battle manga is hot-blooded! However, Ip, who does the opposite with his easy-going, "I'll get by somehow" spirit, is full of charm that captures the heart of the audience without their knowledge, regardless of whether he is a friend or foe.
By relaxing his shoulders, he is able to absorb more things and break through the limits... I really admire this, as I am the type of person who always puts my mind to it! (Laughs)

───Can you tell us about your enthusiasm for playing the character of Tamao Tamamura?
I never thought I would be playing Tamao for the first time in 20 years! I am really surprised and thrilled!
I'm going to give it my all, bringing back the freshness of the days when I stood in front of the microphone shaking and struggling to play Tamao!

The fascinating characters, their thoughts, reasons for fighting, and the dreams they want to achieve...... all have different backgrounds, but you can feel the rich depth in them.
Dramatic, yet relatable, it is nothing short of wonderful.

───Can you tell us about your enthusiasm for playing the character of Ponch?
I inherited the character of Ponch by a fortunate chance.
He has been a spirit for over 400 years, but at heart he is still a mischievous boy, and although he is a raccoon dog, he is very human. He is cute but hateful, and I love him.
He and his partner Konchi will put their whole hearts and souls into their pranks, so please watch over them warmly.

Konchi is a fox spirit who has served the Asakura family for 400 years. The duo's vulgar behavior at all hours of the day always makes their current master, Tamao, blush.

───Can you tell us about the appeal of this work?
Personally, I love the cool design of the O.S. The weapons are all very character-driven.
All of the weapons show the character of the characters and still tickle the hearts of boys!

Then there's the character of the leaves, which are usually laid-back and relaxed.
The work has a relaxed and easygoing atmosphere, but when it needs to be tightened up, it is.
I think the charm of this work is that it has such a good balance between the two.

───Can you tell us about your enthusiasm for playing the character of Konchi?
I never thought I would be involved in this work when I was a child watching the anime.
I am honored to be able to play the role of Konchi, a character that was created by a great senior.
I will play their pranks and fun-loving character well and deliver a Ponchi-Konchi duo that will make everyone laugh!
