The home appliances that supported Japan's rapid economic growth come back to life in tiny form! I played with "Efty's Retronics! ICHIOSHI! Shokugan Road Vol.17]

Hello everyone! This is Kariyasu☆, a hobby writer. In this corner, I will be reviewing, modifying, and playing with Shokugan kits that interest me, under the theme of "Shokugan for adults. The 17th issue is Retronics vol. 1, which is currently on sale from EFTOYS!

Do you like retro items? Recently, Showa-era retro items and spots have been getting a lot of attention on SNS and TV. In this context, Eftoys has launched a new "Retronics" series that lets you enjoy cool retro Showa items in miniature size!

The commemorative first series features a lineup of 8 types of Toshiba home appliances from the Showa 30s. From the Showa era generation who remember "I used to use this in the olden days! and "What's a cathode-ray tube? to the Heisei generation who wonder "What is a cathode-ray tube?

The kits are pre-colored, and some assembly is required (no glue needed). A paper craft is printed in the instruction manual.

Tools needed are nippers, scissors (cutter), and glue!

Below is the explanation of each appliance.

1/12Washing machineVK-3

Launched in1956

Since long ago, washing clothes has been the greatest labor for housewives. In the 1950s, electric washing machines finally became popular, and the demand for washboards and taris gradually decreased. This "VK-3" was an ingenious model that allowed rinsing while the water was running, and the top lid doubled as a laundry receptacle.

The dehydration roller and laundry receptacle, which are not seen in this day and age, are very fresh!

The paper craft comes with a laundry basket and detergent. Craft it as if you were a mother in the 1950s!

1/12B/W TV14EH

Released in1958

When you think of TVs, this early design must be the first thing many people think of! The "14EH" was a model that employed a unique mechanism in which the sound from the speaker mounted on the side inside the TV was reflected inside the cabinet and emitted from the front.

The power is turned off, of course, but if you insert the included paper craft, you can reproduce the test patterns played during sandstorms and TV broadcast pauses. Free patterns are also included, so you can draw your own scenes!

The back side of the power supply is also well reproduced. The antenna is cute!

1/12Fan YugaoLP(black,twotypes ofblue)

1960(Showa35)

Toshiba fans of the time were nicknamed after flowers. This "Yugao" model was marketed as a high-end fan with a night-light attached.

The basic style has not changed since then. Fans have a different comfort than air conditioners (especially after taking a bath).

The included paper crafts are a watermelon and a bottle of beer. I would love to have a drink on the porch while listening to the sound of wind chimes!

1/12 Family Stereo TAS-310

Released in1961

The TAS-310 was released in 1961, the year "Sudara-bushi" became a big hit. It was a "new age stereo phonograph" that was thin and the record player part could be compactly stored.

An excellent design that also functions as a fashionable interior.

Included paper crafts are a record and a jacket. With the free jacket, you can create your own original jacket!

1/12 RefrigeratorGR-100TS

Released in1962

In the 1960s, electric refrigerators became popular at once. This "GR-100TS" incorporated many innovative ideas such as an automatic defrosting device and a butter case with a heater, in addition to refrigeration and ice-making functions.

The style of the refrigerator hasn't changed.

The included paper crafts are butter and milk bottles. It is fun to move the shelves and doors freely!

1/8HTS-62 Snack3(red,2types ofblue)

Released in1964

During the high-growth period, food culture became diversified and various cooking utensils were developed. The HTS-62 was marketed as a combination stove that could cook toast, hot milk, and fried eggs at the same time, based on the concept of "quick breakfast before going out. The HTS-62 is designed so that even ordinary households with limited cooking space can easily enjoy stylish Western-style cooking.

The HTS-62 has various interesting gimmicks despite its small size, such as a switch that moves and a lid that opens to remove crumbs from the bottom! The printed fried egg is also very realistic!

The actual package can be reproduced. It's kind of very cute!

Try scrapping it!

Freshly grated appliances are beautiful and attractive, but so are appliances that have been turned into scrap. In this case, we weathered the "GR-100TS" to make it look like it has been illegally dumped for decades!

Sponge a brown or orange rust-like color on a sponge and pump, pump, pump, stain!

I lightly smeared the inside with enamel paint, and finished by replicating the dripping on the outside! I also made a sign to warn people against illegal dumping. It looks like something that might be left like this in an empty lot along a country road or in an abandoned house deep in the mountains, doesn't it?

This is a series of retronics that has never seemed to exist before. I have high expectations for the second installment. See you soon!
