TV anime "SHAMAN KING" to begin airing in spring 2021; Seiichi Morita to play Amidamaru's best friend, Mokusuke! Comments have arrived!

New characters and cast members have been announced for the TV anime "SHAMAN KING," which will begin airing on TV Tokyo in April 2021.

SHAMAN KING," a popular comic book series by Hiroyuki Takei that has sold more than 35 million copies, tells the story of a boy who can see spirits, Ip Asakura, who participates in shaman fights to determine the top shaman, and fights alongside his friends to become the Shaman King. Currently, a new chapter, "SHAMAN KING THE SUPER STAR," is being serialized in "Shonen Magazine Edge" (Kodansha).
It will be adapted into a completely new TV anime in April 2021. Based on "SHAMAN KING" (35 volumes), the series will be drawn to the end.

The recent announcement of additional cast members and characters, the first key visual, and the first PV attracted a lot of attention from fans, and now it has been announced that Seiichi Morita will play the role of Mokusuke, a blacksmith who was a great friend of Amidamaru.

Mukosuke: Seiichi Morita
A blacksmith who was a great friend of Amidamaru. He spent time with Amidamaru at a temple where orphans who had lost their parents gathered. 600 years ago, he struck Amidamaru's beloved sword, Harusame.

───Can you tell us about the appeal of this work?
I am of the generation that started reading "SHAMAN KING" when the serialization started.
The word "shaman" itself was something that appeared only briefly in Japanese and world history, but it was an existence that gave me a sense of ancient romance.
This fascinating existence appears in the modern age. That alone was enough to make my heart dance.

───Can you tell us about your enthusiasm for playing the character of Mukosuke?
This work is being produced as a completely new anime. I feel honored to have been chosen to play the role at the beginning of the production.
