According to the announcement on his official Twitter account, he passed away on February 8, 2021 due to pneumonia. He was 86 years old.

Mr. Moriyama was born on July 26, 1934 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture.
He graduated from Aichi Prefectural Inuyama High School (he was a member of the baseball team in high school) and dropped out of the film department of Nihon University College of Art.
He was a member of the first research group of Gekidan Togei.
Using his stage background and his low, austere voice, he was widely active as an actor, voice actor, and narrator, in addition to playing the lead role of Porco in the movie "Red Pig.
