In light of the current situation of the new coronavirus infection and the declaration of a state of emergency issued by the Japanese government on January 7 (Thu.), it has been decided that AnimeJapan 2021, one of the world's largest anime events scheduled for March 27 (Sat.) to 30 (Tue.), 2021, will be cancelled due to the health and safety concerns of all visitors and related parties. As a result, it was decided to cancel the real event and hold the event online only.
In addition, artist Takanori Nishikawa was appointed as the official ambassador.

This year's AnimeJapan aims to be an "AnimeJapan that can be enjoyed all day long at home" with 34 programs (planned) on the AJ Stage, distribution from exhibitors' booths, and e-commerce-linked merchandise sales.
