Seiyu Kohaku Sunrise ONLINE LIVE" was held on February 21 (Sun) in collaboration with "Seiyu Kohaku Utagassen," a festival by voice actors for voice actor fans, and anime production company Sunrise, and was broadcast live online without audience. The event was a dream come true! The event was a great success.
The "Seiyu Kohaku Sunrise ONLINE LIVE" was a spin-off project that combined the appeal of the Seiyu Kohaku Uta Gassen, "singing by voice actors that transcends generations and genres," with the appeal of Sunrise's works, "the appeal of anime theme songs that never fade away," to create a special music event featuring anime and voice actors that cannot be viewed or experienced anywhere else. LIVE". Daisuke Namikawa, the host of the event, said, "We have a great lineup of people here," and Daisuke Sakaguchi, also the host, said, "A total of 17 people who are worthy of the name 'legends' will perform one after another! Don't miss it until the end!
The top performers were Mayumi Tanaka as Wataru Sengbu and Kazue Ikura as Ryuko Shoryuko, the Tiger King, from the 1988 broadcast of "Wataru: The Legend of the Magus Gods". Tanaka said that the most memorable scene was "the first part where Ryujinmaru transforms and he says, 'I can't fly,'" and Ikura said, "There were many strong characters, but I also liked the part where Himiko's physical ability was too great. The opening theme song "STEP" was performed with light dance moves and cute ad-libs.
The next performer was Hiroshi Nojima as Gaynor Sanga from "OVERMAN King Gaynor" broadcast in 2002. He said, "I'm a young guy (among today's performers)! (Laughs) During the production, Director Tomino seemed to be having a lot of fun. (Laughs) During the production, Director Tomino seemed to have a lot of fun, and we even went on a trip to a hot spring together. He sang the opening theme "King Gainer Over," for which he had written the lyrics himself.
Kazuki Yao, who played Judau Arcita in "Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ" broadcast in 1986, appeared on stage. Among the Gundam series, this one has a lot of female characters. Personally, I liked the leader, but just the other day was the anniversary of the death of Chieko Honda, who played Pru, He sang the opening theme song, "Anime nai nai - O old earthlings who forgot their dreams," with great emotion.
Next up was Hozumi Gouda as Kikori Kuby from "Armored Trooper Votoms," which aired in 1983. She showed a photo taken in front of the Scopedock statue in Inagi. She then said, "In the 29th episode, there was an episode called "Two" where Chirico and Fiana were the only two characters. The word "swallowed" became popular, and Tetsuro Oda, for whom the word "swallowed" is like a watchword, sang the opening theme song, "Sadame of the Flame," which was sung by the director of the show. The opening theme "Sadame of Flame" was sung by Tetsuro Oda, for whom the word "swoon" has become a watchword.
Rei Takano, who played the role of Kouichi Minesaki in the 1993 broadcast of "Nekketsu Saikyou Gozaurer," made an appearance. She commented on the relationship between Kouichi and Shinobu, "It was more of a feeling of, "Oh, did you get a kyuun? Maybe it was a feeling of "I like you,"" she recalled, "I liked all my classmates, but Kinta was cool when he threw away an important match to join the competition. He said, "Everyone is in trouble, so I'm here to help!" He said enthusiastically of his favorite epidead. He then performed the opening theme "Keep on Dreaming" as spiritedly and powerfully as Raichi.
Next up was Rika Matsumoto as Hoshi Takasugi from the 1992 broadcast of "Densetsu no Yusha Da Gahn" (The Legend of Da Gahn). I'll never forget the line from the last episode: "I'm here because of you. I'll never forget the line in the last episode: "I'm here because of you all.... I've always been here, and I'll always be here." Her feelings overlapped with the actual shooting of the film! I believe in tomorrow! Tomorrow... we'll create it! and sang powerfully with his favorite line, "Tomorrow... we will create it!
Shuyuki Hiyama, who played the role of Gai Shishio in the 1997 broadcast of "GaoGaiGar the Brave," appeared on stage. Among his many special moves, he said, "When I give the enemy the finishing blow, I say, 'Let there be light! I remember that I couldn't quite get myself to agree with it. I remember that I couldn't convince myself that it was right! Gaga! The opening theme, "The Birth of the King of Heroes! and performed special moves such as "Dividing Driver," "Goldion Hammer," "Hammer Hell," and "Let There Be Light. The audience was treated to a variety of special moves, including "Dividing Driver," "Goldion Hammer," "Hammer Hell," and "Be the Light.
Kikuko Inoue is 17 years old. The first to appear with her customary greeting was Kikuko Inoue as Aina Sakharine from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Platoon," released in 1996. I like the scene where she and Shiro take a hot spring bath together, using beam sabers to melt the snow from the snowy mountains to create an open-air bath. It's a hot spring in a Gundam (laughs)! I think that was the first time Aina freed herself there." He spoke of their relationship, and Shuyuki Hiyama, who played Shiro, took the stage to share his memories of that time. He then sang the opening theme "Shining in the Storm" with all his heart, with Aina's thoughts and feelings in mind.
Yukana, who played C.C. in "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion," which aired in 2006 and was the most recent work in this project, appeared on stage. The tension on the set was great," she said. The director was pushing himself and everyone else to do the same. I really enjoyed that tense atmosphere. I consumed a lot of calories," she said, looking back on that time. She sang the opening theme song "COLORS".
Next, Rie Tanaka, who played the role of Lax Klein in "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" broadcast in 2002, appeared in a sexy costume. She said, "Lax has one line that really resonates with me. "First decide. And then you go through with it. That's the only way to accomplish something. I'm sure." This line was a great source of support for me at the time," she said, revealing her love for the character, who remains deeply popular even after the show's broadcast ended. She sang the ending theme song, "We were so together," which was the first time she had ever sung in public.
Junichi Kanemaru as Hayato Kazami and Toshihiko Seki as Breed Kaga appeared from "Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula," which aired in 1991, the 30th anniversary of its broadcast. Looking back on the short time that has passed since the broadcast, they surprised the MCs by showing the astonishing popularity of the show, which had 13 bus tours. Kanemaru commented on the lyrics of the song, "It's precisely because the present is painful that tomorrow will shine brightly," to which Seki replied, "It's a great song. Seki sang "Winners," the ending theme song, with a lot of fun and dialogue, reminiscing about the old days.
Next up was Ai Orikasa, who played the role of Katol LaBarba Winner in "New Mobile Suit Gundam W," which aired in 1995. She spoke about the memorable lines of Katoru, saying, "There were many difficult lines for Katoru, such as 'The universe will teach me. The "Black Cuttle" line is also very chilling. It's funny, tears are flowing. I love the line, "It's funny, I'm crying, even though I'm not sad at all! He then sang the opening theme song "Just Communication," which is a cool Gundam-like song, in his outstanding voice.
Finally, in the last half of the show, Kazuhiko Inoue, who played Albatross Naru Age Aska in "Aoki Ryusei SPT Reisner" aired in 1985, appeared on stage. He said, "It's been 36 years since the broadcast. That's a surprise, isn't it? Raisner was a two-part series. There were about three years in between. He suddenly changes his personality and becomes stronger. The director told me, "I want to make an anime that is twice as good as the original. I was reborn, or to be frank, I played different personalities," he said, singing the opening theme "Like Meros - Lonely Way -" romantically.
Kazue Ikura, who played the role of Kaori Makimura for the second time since "City Hunter" aired in 1987, appeared in kimono and talked about playing the same main cast member for 32 years, "It was my first big role, so I was nervous, but it was a bit close to myself, so I managed to do it. It had been a long time since I did the movie version in 2019, so I was worried about whether I could do that voice again, so I went to voice training. But once I got it out, I felt like I was right back where I was then," she said, singing the opening theme song "City Hunter ~Ai yo Hashinenai~.
Next up was Takeshi Kusao as Ryo the Raging Fireman from the 1988 broadcast of "Armoreden Samurai Trooper. In response to the story that the voice actors of this work formed a voice actor unit called "NG5" and took the world by storm, he shared an episode in which he said, "It is not a group of five who often give NG, but actually a group of five nice guys, N.G.FIVE is the correct name. It was so long ago that I don't remember the details..." The MC, who was showing signs of fatigue, was concerned and made the audience laugh. Then they sang the opening theme song "Samurai Heart" with great energy.
The last performer was Toru Furuya, who played Amuro Ray in "Mobile Suit Gundam III: Meguriai Uchu Hen" released in 1982. I was 25 years old when I started playing the role of Amuro Rey in "Mobile Suit Gundam III: Meguri Ai Uchu Hen. I still continue to play the character in collaborative products and commercials, so it has become my alter ego and my complete life's work. There are many people around the world, young and old, men and women, who love Gundam. It is a treasure for me. I am who I am today because of that work," he says. He also said deeply, "However, when it comes to playing Amuro Rei, I am not as good as I was when I was 25 years old. He then sang the last song of the day, the theme song "Meguriai," in a sweet and dramatic voice, to close out the show.
After all 16 songs of the Seiyu Kohaku Sunrise ONLINE LIVE were over, host Namikawa said, "The power of anime is amazing. Even after all these years, great things are still great." Sakaguchi said, "When you hear those songs, you can go back to those days. I was already a guest sitting here (not the MC)," he said. "The situation is still very difficult, but I am sure that we will be able to hold the Seiyu Kohaku Uta Gassen again with you all at the same venue," he concluded. The show ended on a high note, with the power of animation and the energetic voices of the singers echoing through the screen, blowing away both the sorrow and pain of the times.
Original goods commemorating the live performance are now on sale at the Movic Online Shop. For those who missed the live performance, tickets to watch the show are on sale until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28.
