The "Shigeru Mizuki Birthday Festival" was held today, March 7, 2021 (Sunday) to commemorate the 99th anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's birth, and four major projects were announced to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth.

The "Shigeru Mizuki Birthday Festival" (sponsored by Tottori Prefecture and Sakaiminato City) was held today, Sunday, March 7, 2021, to commemorate the 99th anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's birth.

The "Shigeru Mizuki 100th Anniversary Project" is scheduled to run for three years from March 8, 2021, the 99th anniversary of his birth, through the 100th and 101st anniversaries of his birth, and will include a variety of activities.

Start of new anime "Demon-kun!

It has been decided that a new anime "Demon-kun" will be launched!
Akuma-kun" is one of Shigeru Mizuki's most famous works and tells the story of a boy genius, Akuma-kun, who is one in 10,000 years, and who, with the help of demons and the Twelve Apostles, aims to create an ideal world where there is no conflict and no hunger.

The first work was published in 1963, when Shigeru Mizuki was a rental book cartoonist, and was later serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine and Weekly Shonen Jump with different contents. It was adapted into an animated TV series in 1989.

And now, a new visual for the new anime "Demon-kun" has been released!
The new visual is a mixture of the old and the new, consisting of Shingo's Demon-kun (left), the main character, the second generation Demon-kun (center), and Mephisto (right).

Junichi Sato, the series director of the 1989 animated TV series, was chosen as the general director, and Fumitoshi Oizaki was chosen as the series director of the new animated series, with Hiroshi Ohnoki as series composition.

Toei Animation Campaign Project "Gegege Gege no Kitaro" started!

A new campaign project started by Toei Animation, the four major projects commemorating the 100th anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's birth!

In order to convey the appeal of "Gegege no Kitaro", which has been loved by many people across generations, character development will begin using all six series simultaneously, from the first TV animation season that began broadcasting in 1968 to the latest sixth season that began broadcasting in 2018.

The project is named "Gegege Gegege no Kitaro," with six "ge" in reference to the simultaneous use of the six series.
In addition, to commemorate the project, a new key visual featuring Kitaro characters from all six series, selected from the first through the sixth seasons, has been unveiled.

Visuals of each of the 1st to 6th seasons have been released!

The main theme is yokai (specters). The exhibition will introduce what "yokai" are that should be handed down to future generations, and the "legacy left by people of the past," along with the many works that Shigeru Mizuki drew to pass them on to future generations.

A new film adaptation of the anime "Gegege no Kitaro" is in the works!

The sixth season of the anime "Gegege no Kitaro," which was broadcast from 2018 to 2020, will be made into a movie. The title is "The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of Gegegege".
The story is about the birth of Kitaro, which everyone seems to know but does not... and its hidden mysteries. Miyuki Sawashiro will play the role of Kitaro and Masako Nozawa will play Kitaro's father.

A teaser visual for "The Birth of Kitaro: Mystery of GeGeGeGe" has been unveiled to heighten expectations.
