Aslada! I'm going to win the championship!" Taiyuki tried his hand at building the second "Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula" Variable Action Kit! Part 1 [Taiyuki's Weekend Plastic Modeling 29th Edition

When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!

The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.

So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Weekend Plastic Model! Let's start the 29th issue!

Vol. 29 "Cyber Formula" Variable Action Kit Vol. 2 (Part 1)

We have been waiting for this for a long time!

The second "Cyber Formula" Variable Action Kit (VAKIT) from MegaHouse has arrived!

This time the lineup is

Super Asrada 01(Aero mode)

Fire Superion G.T.R

Aoi Stealth Jaguar Z7

The lineup this time includes three models.

Personally, like the Ishzak in the first volume, I am beyond thrilled that two vehicles that had not been made into kits at the time of the anime airing, the Fire Superion and the Stealth Jaguar, have been made into kits in this size! They have been sculpted in MegaHouse's Variable Action series (and I have that, too), but this is a different kind of excitement! Do you understand?

Each kit in the VAKIT series can be assembled in one of two different forms. Please note that this time, we will introduce the kits not by selecting one type or the other, but by reassembling them.

Let's start with the kits in order of their number.

Let's start with the number 004 "Super Asrada 01(Aero mode)"! The runner is as you can see.

Again, the chassis part is semi-complete and easy to assemble! Of course, stickers and instructions are included in the package.

First, let's assemble the chassis to the state just before selecting 2 types!

The main body and rear wing are common parts for both types. It took me 5 minutes to complete the assembly! It was super easy!

Then, start with the "aero mode. In parallel, assemble the parts used for the other type, "Boost Pod UP Mode". It took me 10 minutes from the previous state to this point. In total, it took me about 15 minutes to complete!

So, let's take a look at Super Asrada01(Aero mode) first. The fender part covering the front wheels is very sharp, with the Super Athrada's characteristic nose cone splitting it. The rear tires are also covered by the rear wing and ground-effect fan unit to regulate airflow around the body. This is the so-called high-speed driving mode.

The stickers are light-related clear yellow, the number "30", red lines on both front sides, and the mark of Sugou. The stickers are made of a very thin material, so the bumps will not be noticeable even when applied.

The styling is based on the image of the anime play.

Even though it looks sharp, the boost pods are still very powerful! The black part in the center of the photo is also a sticker.

The powerful front view! This is indeed the star of the show!

The rear view is also shown from a lower perspective. The boost pods and six exhausts, the large rear tires next to them, and the rear wing that looks like the wings of a flapping Pegasus... ah, I love ......!

It is so close to the ground that you can hardly see the shadows falling under the chassis, making it a solid racing machine.

The inside of the cockpit has also been recreated, just like the first Super Athrada (circuit mode).

⇒I played with "Variable Action Kit: Neon Genesis GPX Cyber Formula" series from Red Zone, which is very easy to make! Taiyuki's Weekend Plastic Model No. 19.

And what a surprise, the ground effect fan can be stored and deployed this time!

This is what it looks like from the back side.

And the bottom of the vehicle body, which could sometimes be seen in the anime when there were jumping spots. Despite the size of the figure, there is a lot of fine detail!

And one of my favorite angles. I like this angle, as if the car is grazing the camera at high speed.

Then, replace the rear body parts and attach the red parts and wing,

Super Asrada (Aero Mode Boost Pod UP)". The intake surface of the boost pod is reproduced with stickers.

It is also the fastest form of the Super Athrada. If you want to try a simple paint job, painting the exposed arm part from the boost pod may be a good idea.

It is still very powerful when seen from right behind! Since cyber machines sometimes enter the slipstream of the car in front, they are often painted from the rear, and it is also an interesting aspect of cyber machine design that each machine can be distinguished from the other by its rear view.

This is how it looks from the side. The aero mode, which used to be smart, becomes a bit wild when boost is used.

Of course, the effect fan can be deployed even in this state. It may be a little dangerous to use the effect fan while driving at high speed, though.

Then, to add a little "extra work" to the assembly, we used a 0.3mm sharpener and a smear pen to draw in the molds. This made the molds clearer and closer to the anime impression.

Comparison with the first VAKIT Super Asrada 01 Circuit Mode (left), which you may have also been interested in. The chassis looks similar, but the ground effect fan movement is built in, so they are completely different. The silhouette changes drastically in each of the circuit/aero modes, which is brilliant! By the way, the circuit mode is different from the kit condition because it has been painted.

The machine looks different from the rear view due to the way the wings spread out (aero mode on the right).

The tires are fully exposed in the circuit mode (left), while they are well covered in the aero mode, which makes you wonder if the driver's emotions were also expressed through the mode change in addition to the performance.

The difference in expression is also seen from the side. The aero mode (top photo) has a lower ride height because the rear wing transforms into a compact shape.

Now, let's finish the introduction of the "Super Asrada 01 (Aero mode)".

Hayato "Boost On!

Asrada "Boost pod activated! Count start to engine critical point!"

Next, number 005 "Fire Superion G.T.R.".

The kit is as you can see. Again, of course, the chassis is semi-complete.

Inside the cockpit, even the machine head of the cyber system is reproduced!

How long will it take to assemble this one?

Fire Superion also comes in two selectable types. It took me about 10 minutes to complete this common part. The stickers have a large area, so please attach them carefully.

And here are the parts used in the "circuit mode" and the other mode. There are many large stickers, so please attach them carefully.
It took me about 15 minutes from the previous state to this point. Still, it was easy!

Fire Superion Circuit Mode

The Aoi team used to race with a production-based car, but this machine was developed as a "monster machine" on the order of Aoi's owner, Ms. Kyoko Aoi.

Although similar to the rear view of the Superion G.T., the rear view is more powerful. This shape of the rear wing is also a characteristic of Aoi's machine.

Front view. Smart silhouette and passionate body color.

Relatively more stickers are used: clear yellow on the headlights, the license plate number, the emblem of the griffon, the orange and black parts on the rear of the body, and the front and rear of the boost pods.

I think the back view of Fire Superion was also often seen in the anime. They were good rivals. ...... Especially until Randall appeared.

It has the same number of wheels as the Super Aslada, but the tires are different in size and layout.

After all, sporty cars must have this angle! The surface configuration of the intakes under the headlights is also cool and well put together.

The rearview mirror has a dent, so attaching a thin slice of lappy tape or something like that might add to the atmosphere.

In front of the rear tire, there is a mold like a radiator (?). There is a mold like a radiator (?) in front of the rear tire. It shows no gap!

Another form of "Boost Mode" or "Phoenix Wing Mode"!

The boldly deployed boost pod is a distinctive feature.

The changes from the "Circuit Mode" are the addition of the boost base parts and the ground effect fan parts that are exposed when the boost pod is deployed.

New Article "Phoenix Wing!"

From the front, this powerful image looks as if it is about to charge forward at a furious pace.

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Sudawn!

From the rear, the boldly deployed boost pods are extremely impressive.

In circuit mode, it looked like an honor student, but with the boost deployed, it even looks powerful, as if the griffon has spread its large wings and awakened.

This is how the Grand Effects fan was sculpted. Many of you may remember it, especially since it was extremely active in Round 7.

The bottom of the vehicle body, which was also seen frequently in Round 7, is also well reproduced!

Assembling "plus a little effort" here, too, we chose to use Sumirelle. The mold is clear and easy to smear.

Only the effect fan has a complicated shape, so we used a poured-in type Sumire pen.

The final scene of Fire Superion G.T.R. is the one that must have brought tears to many people's eyes at the time.

"The goal line of persistence."

...... No, this scene can only be conveyed by watching that sequence of events leading up to this point!

So, that's it for the first part! In the second part, we will introduce the "AOI Stealth Jaguar Z7".

Next time, the fun red zone!
