Date City's local anime "Reconstruction Support Masamune Datenikuru Combined Version+" produced by GAINA was released in theaters! A report on the stage greeting in which Hoshi Soichiro and the cast look back on the work!

The web animation "Masamune Datenikuru," a collaboration between Date City, Fukushima Prefecture, and animation production company Gaina, began showing in theaters on April 1, 2021, as "Reconstruction Support Masamune Datenikuru Combined Version+ (Plus).

Masamune Datenikuru" is a local animation of Date City, Fukushima Prefecture, which has been distributed on YouTube and Nico Nico Douga since 2016. Date Masamune, the 17th head of Date, battles a mysterious enemy while "combining" with his 16 ancestors.

In addition to the distribution of the animation on the web, events and exhibitions featuring the voice actors have been held, making it an unusually long-running and popular work for a local animation, and now it has finally been released nationwide as a theatrical animation.

The "Reconstruction Support Masamune Da Tennicle: Combined Edition + (Plus)" is a compilation of previously released episodes and additional new episodes, and can be considered the culmination of the series. In particular, the new episodes depict a battle to discover the secret of the mysterious ninja Claude, which greatly enhances the climax of the story.

To commemorate the screening of "Reconstruction Support: Masamune Da Tennicle Combined Edition + (Plus)," a stage greeting was held from April 2 to 4, with the voice actors appearing on stage.

Akiba Research Institute attended the April 2 stage greeting at TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro, where Soichiro Hoshi, who plays Claude, and Yoshinobu Asao, president of Gaina, were on stage. The following is a report on the event.

Mr. Asao took the stage first. He explained that "Masamune Datenicle" was originally started as a reconstruction effort with Date City in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, and that the "Reconstruction Support Masamune Datenicle Combined Edition + (Plus)" project was started to see what could be done 10 years after the disaster.

Soichiro Hoshi, who plays Claude, a key person in the new episode of "Reconstruction Support Masamune Datenickle: Combined Version + (Plus)", appeared on stage next. This time, as a measure to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, a restriction was placed on the audience: they could only cheer by clapping. However, Hoshi was still happy to be able to hold the event in front of his fans, and commented, "It's been a while since I've been able to meet everyone, even in this way, so I'm happy.

The stage greeting started in a very friendly atmosphere.

First of all, regarding the new episode of "Reconstruction Support: Masamune Datenicle Combined Version + (Plus)," which had not been recorded in a while, he said, "I had the impression that 'Datenicle' was a fun anime where you get together with your ancestors, so I played Claude while remembering that he was in charge of seriousness. I was given a new challenge of being serious and dark," he said.

One thing he was careful about was "not to get dragged into the ad-libbing match between the ancestors. The comical interactions of the ancestors contain quite a bit of ad-libbing, and he recalls that watching them could be mistaken for the kind of anime that they are, and that Claude did his best to maintain a serious character even in such a situation.

According to Asao, director Satoru Kiyomaru was also very careful about how Claude was portrayed, and even though there were some ideas to make Claude funny and active, he tried to control the scene to keep a line between the two.

During the talk, Mr. Asao handed the microphone to Director Kiyomaru, who was sitting in the audience, and forced him to participate in the talk. It turned out that the director had already decided to depict Claude's episode when he decided to make a new animation 10 years after the earthquake.

It was also revealed that Claude is based on Kuroudo Yose, the leader of the ninja group "Kurohabakagumi" founded by Date Masamune, and the identity of the group that appeared in the epilogue was also discussed. The talk was full of spoilers as it was a stage greeting after the screening of the movie.

Toward the end of the talk, Mr. Asao revealed that he is thinking about the next step as a project to support reconstruction for the next 10 years. Although it will be some time before the information is disclosed, it seems that a new project is in the works behind the scenes.

Hearing this story, Mr. Hoshi also commented, "I am glad to hear about the next prospects. He continued his thoughts on the reconstruction of Date City, saying, "I would like to keep a little more in mind every day for the reconstruction of the city.
