The "BL Anime Popularity Poll" has been held in 2019 and 2020, and this year it returned as a special voting project on White Day, and we are pleased to announce the results of the poll.

The winner of the 2021 "Anime Popularity Poll" was " Koisuru Tyrant, " based on the manga by Hinako Takanaga, which took the top spot ahead of the champion "Haru wo Motometeita," which had taken the top spot in 2019 and 2020.

At the beginning of the voting, it looked as if "Haru Hugging" was going to take first place again this year, but around the midway point of the voting period, on the 18th, it suddenly began to increase its number of votes and rose to third place. From there, the number of votes continued to increase until the last day of the voting period, resulting in a great effort to take first place.
This work is a spin-off of Takanaga's debut work "Challengers" and tells the story of two popular characters, Soichi Tatsumi and Tetsuhiro Morinaga. The anime was highly satisfactory to fans, as Kosuke Toriumi, who plays Tetsuhiro Morinaga, the younger wanker Angel, and Hikaru Midorikawa, who plays Soichi Tatsumi, the older tyrant, continued to play the same roles.

And although they failed to win for the third year in a row, " Haru wo Hagitateita" and " Fuyu no Semi: Edo Koi Uta " were ranked side by side in second and third place, respectively, showing their stable popularity. The "Haru wo Hagitate" series has shown overwhelming popularity in this project, and although it narrowly missed out on the top spot this time, its popularity, which had been achieved two consecutive times, was not a fluke. The clouds gather ", which was also ranked 4th in the previous poll, was the first work produced by Fuji Television's BLUE LYNX, an anime label specializing in BL, and was released in theaters in February 2020. The story is about Yashiro, a young head of the Sincerity Association with a taste for the oppressed and a lustful side, and Domeki, a former police officer who was imprisoned for an assault, who gradually fall for each other while making up for their mutual deficiencies. The film was thought to be difficult to visualize, but the atmosphere of the original story was carefully depicted, and the images and sound, which were created by facing the story head-on, captured the hearts of those who saw it in the theater.

In fifth place was another regular participant in this project, " World's First Love the Movie: Takashi Yokozawa's Case.
