On Tuesday, March 30, 2021, it was announced that PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita will end its service this summer.

However, after further review, the company has come to the conclusion that this decision was made in error. Today, April 20, 2021, the company announced on PlayStation.Blog that it will continue the PS Store service for PS3 and PS Vita.

The PSP (PlayStation Portable) purchase function will end on Friday, July 2, 2021, as planned.

The initial decision to end content sales on PS3 and PS Vita was made due to challenges with sales support on the former platforms and with the goal of focusing resources on the current consoles enjoyed by many players, but many players will continue to be able to purchase games on PS3 and PS Vita in the future. We found that many players strongly desire to be able to purchase classic games on PS3 and PS Vita in the future. Therefore, they decided to find a solution to continue.

Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, commented as follows.

While we continue to create cutting-edge new game worlds for PS4, PS5, and the next generation of VR, we are thrilled to be able to continue to offer players this part of PlayStation's proud history of game titles.

Thank you for your feedback - we're always listening, and we appreciate the continued support of the PlayStation community."
