The story takes place at the end of the Edo period, when Himura Kenshin was feared as Himura Battousai, the strongest manslayer without blood or tears, and was assassinated by Katsura Kogoro, the leader of the Choshu clan, the overthrowers of the shogunate. The film depicts the origin of Kenshin, completely overturning the gentle image of the "wanderer" Kenshin of the previous films in the series.

The Beginning" Story
