Guest Rika Matsumoto's thoughts on her late brother in the OP theme of "Kamen Rider Ryuki"......The 6th report of "Director Suzumura's Glass Night" where nonstop talk unfolded.

Director Nobuhiro Suzumura, who has worked on a number of tokusatsu productions including "Kamen Rider Kuuga," "Kamen Rider Agito," "Sailor Moon," "Go-onger," and "Akibaranger," as well as dramas such as "No Con Kid: Our Game History," "Hatsumori Bemers," "Shonan Jun-Ai Gumi! YOUNG GTO!", the sixth episode of "Director Suzumura's Glass Sun Night", a program in which director Nobuhiro Suzumura serves as the main personality, was broadcast on the Nico Nico Channel on March 23, 2021, from 8:00 p.m. The program was titled "Director Suzumura's Glass Sun Night".

Director Suzumura's Glass Night" is a talk show featuring Nobuhiro Suzumura, a visual director, as the main personality. The program features not only actors, actresses, voice actors, and other entertainers, but also creators, cultural figures, musicians, and other guests of various power, who sometimes engage in lively, sometimes in-depth discussions with the audience.

This time, Rika Matsumoto, an ally of director Suzumura, a voice actor who plays many popular characters including Satoshi from "Pokemon," and a singer known to tokusatsu fans as the OP theme of "Masked Rider Ryuki," will appear as a guest. The first 20 minutes of the program was broadcast free of charge, making it a perfect service and a great show.

We've got a glass night! Mr. Matsumoto appeared on the stage full of energy. It had been three years since they had actually met in person, but they used to go out drinking and karaoke together frequently. Their first encounter was much earlier than that. Their first contact was over drinks after an event overseas.

The director took the drunken Matsumoto to his hotel room, and later they traveled to New York to hang out together.

That is not the only connection between the two. When Director Suzumura participated in "Go-onger", he designed the enemy character "Boseki Banki" with Mr. Matsumoto's role in mind and had him actually play the character, and he also had Mr. Matsumoto perform in the first stage production of Director Suzumura.

On the other hand, Ms. Matsumoto shared a behind-the-scenes story about how she gained weight for her role in "Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger" episode 5, in which she played the role of Masako Yamada, the mother of Yumelia Moeki, and how she was unable to lose weight after that ....... The lighthearted (and deep) talk was as if we were at a drinking party with the two of them.

As mentioned above, Mr. Matsumoto is also known for singing "Alive A lie," the OP theme song for "Masked Rider Ryuki. This song was the first OP theme by a female singer for the "Masked Rider" series, and she recalled that she sang it with a sense of responsibility, being told that "if I mess up, there will be no women (theme songs in the future).

He also felt a sense of being allowed to work on a work that his late brother had loved. "I had the feeling that my brother had brought me "Rider," so I sang the song as a way of repaying him," he said, "I wanted to bring cheer to him," he said, describing his feelings at the time.

Although she now says that she does not consider animation, live-action, and stage performances separately, Matsumoto, who originally came from the stage, said that she had planned to retire from voice acting after "Absolutely Invincible Raijin-O," in which she played the main role as a voice actor for the first time, and return to stage acting again. However, a producer asked her, "Wouldn't it be okay if you quit after you do one more?" and that is when he appeared in "Da Gahn, the Legendary Hero". There, he received detailed acting instruction from the late Koichi Chiba, a voice actor who also served as sound director, which made him realize the depth of voice acting, and he decided to give voice acting a proper shot.

If I had not met Da Gahn, I would not be where I am today," Matsumoto said emphatically.

He also talked about his belief as an actor that he wants to "play animals in real life" and his specialty of imitating animal noises, and about his failure (?) of being the only one who was taken out of the booth during a mob recording because his voice was too loud. The talk was nonstop until the very end of the broadcast.

The next episode will be broadcast on Thursday, April 29, from 4:00 p.m. The guest will be voice actor Kazuo Yao. The guest will be voice actor Kazuki Yao. Questions and comments are welcome! Please check the official program page for details.

Comments after the broadcast

Director: It's been a while since I've seen Rika, but she really cheers me up when she's around. I get power from her, and she makes me happy both at work and in my private life. It's still hard for me to see her now, but I would like to invite her out again for a private meeting. I would also like to work together again. It was a very enjoyable and intense time.

Koyama: I was really nervous before we started today, but we had a lot of fun and laughed the whole time. Thank you very much.

Matsumoto: I came here today with the intention of supporting Director Suzumura's program. I was allowed to do whatever I wanted, but it was a lot of fun, and I laughed from the bottom of my heart and felt energized. I am glad I came today. I thought this kind of thing is important.
