Cast Information & Comments

The visuals and cast information of the main characters appearing in the TV anime have been released.
The cast comments on their impressions and enthusiasm for this work and the characters they play have also arrived.

Hachitora Yaguchi: Hiromu Mineta

A second-year high school student. He is so smart that he keeps excellent grades while playing with his bad friends. He is the top-ranked student in the school caste, but he feels a sense of emptiness. He is attracted to "art" due to a number of reasons, and he is planning to major in oil painting at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, one of the most difficult universities in Japan.

<Hachitora Yaguchi: Comment by Hiromu Mineta

My name is Hiromu Mineta, and I will be playing the role of Hachitora.
Hachitora is a passionate character who faces any challenge with great determination.
I myself am very encouraged by his passionate attitude. This world is full of trials and joys, and even people who are not painting can become passionate about it!
To all of you who are currently challenging something, to all of you who were once challenging something, to all of you who want to challenge something, to all of you who want to support and watch over your challenges, in short, to all of you, I want to look out for you.
In short, this is a work that I want all of you to see.
I myself am determined to challenge myself as hard as the eight tigers so that I can add color to each and every expression on his face.
I would like to challenge this work as hard as the Hachitaro and his friends so that I can add color to each of his expressions!

Ryuji Ayukawa: Yumiri Hanamori

A member of the art club who is good friends with Hachitora. He is popular in class and wears unique clothes. People around him call him "Yuka-chan," which is part of his last name. She hopes to study Japanese painting at Tokyo University of the Arts. She invites Hachitora to join the art club.

<Ryuji Ayukawa: Yumiri Hanamori comments

I keep thinking every day that it is very difficult to live doing what you love.
There are many people in this world who are more talented than I am, and even though I love what I do, it is getting harder and harder. Everyday I think that I have no talent, that I am not suited for this job, and that I could live more comfortably.
Still, I love it. No matter how different from others, how lacking, how muddled, I try, try, try to close the gap because I want to do what I love every day.
Because I don't want to lose to someone with talent. Because I am frustrated.
Blue Period is a work that affirmed that for me.
I will do my best to make it an animation that can push me to do what I love.

Setasuke Takahashi: Daiki Yamashita

A boy genius whom Hachitaro met at an art prep school. Although he is the same age as Hachitaro, he has outstanding talent and skills in art, but he is not a good communicator and does not talk much. Like Hachitora, he plans to study oil painting at Tokyo University of the Arts. He has many similar shirts.

<Takahashi Setasuke: Yamashita Taiki's comment

I learned about this work, Blue Period, when I read it as audition material. After reading it, I was completely immersed in the work and felt like a reader and a fan.
I was so fascinated by the characters, including Hachitora, that I was drawn into the vortex of their raw, beautiful, and dirty nature. I think Setasuke is one of those who struggle in this vortex. I will struggle together with him, and I look forward to working with you.

Yu Hashida: Kengo Kawanishi

He is a high school classmate of Setasuke's and met Hachitora at an art prep school. He has a Kansai accent and is very amiable. He speaks in a Kansai dialect and has a good personality, and is friendly to Hachitaro, who is a little self-conscious of his surroundings.

<Yu Hashida: Comment by Kengo Kawanishi

Congratulations on the anime adaptation of Blue Period! I am Kengo Kawanishi, the voice of Yu Hashida, and I look forward to working with you. He is a character with a Kansai dialect who is aloof and surprisingly shrewd, but he also has gaps and worries as an active student preparing for entrance exams, showing various sides to him.

I was able to read his work during the audition process, and I found it interesting that I could relate to him in some ways to voice acting.
I am sure that people who are thinking of pursuing a career in the arts, as well as other people, will find this work interesting, so I hope you will watch it.

Maki Kuwana: Yume Miyamoto

Maki Kuwana is a young girl who is well known at the art preparatory school that Hachitora attends. She grew up in an environment where both her parents are graduates of Tokyo University of the Arts. She feels pressured by the fact that her older sister was admitted to Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music as a top student. However, she does not show this to the outside world and acts cheerfully.

<Kuwana Maki: Comment by Yume Miyamoto

Maki is a girl who looks like a gal, or a girl who is equal to anyone else anywhere.... But in fact, she is a somewhat complicated girl. I feel that she is unconsciously torturing herself so that those around her do not catch the tension within her and the passion she puts into her paintings. Not only Maki, but all the characters around her struggle in this work, which is very human and realistic. I would like to work hard so that the audience can feel the magnificence of the original work!

I will work hard to make you feel the excellence of the original work!
