Uma Musume Challenge! The Legend of Chun-Li - I'm going to meet the Uma Musume that is better than me! Episode 1 - HaruUrala, I'm not leaving until I win the Arima Kinen!

LINE, which I don't usually use very often, made a popping sound.

Editor A: (LINE popping) Sorry, Nakazato-san. I started "Uma Musume" and I'm really into it.

Nakazato: What year and day is today?

Editor A: It's April 7, 2021.

Nakazato: "Legend of Umapiyo" was the best a few years ago, and it has so much potential as a live content. The amount of attention to the game and the amount of scenarios looks amazing, and I told you it would be interesting to follow it.

Editor A: I don't remember what we talked about at the bar.

Nakazato: I see that too. Then you remember that last year, I played an advance trial at Saige (short for Cygames) and said that "Uma Musume" is the most interesting game and that it would definitely be popular, that it should be popular, and that we in the media would be negligent if it didn't win. What day was it today?

Editor A: I told you I'm sorry! Are you going to write about "Uma Musume" or not?

Nakazato: Of course I will! Please stop asking me like I'm Rozen Maiden. So, what is your manuscript fee?

Editor A: How about X yen?

Nakazato:...... ah.

Editor A: Is it bad?

Nakazato: Well, X yen is the same as the total amount I paid for "Uma Musume.

Editor A: I see, you are a man who is at a loss for reactions. ......

Nakazato: It's a common story. In "Uma Musume" terms, it's like fate.

I will write about it, I will write about it. It was my long-cherished wish. So, I started to write with a blank text editor with no plan, but it is now mid-April. It is mid-April, which is not a good time. Because everyone in the world is already playing "Uma Musume". What are we going to do now?

Editor A: A play diary, maybe?

Play diary. Yes, that would be good too. But who's going to read a manuscript written by an ordinary person like me, who plays halfway through the game, who can easily win the URA final of the training scenario, but the races against other people are still difficult. ...... Of course, we writers are also in the business. If you ask me to write an article like "A novice writer tries out Uma Musume for the first time? If I was asked to write an article like that, I would do it. But if we are going to do "Uma Musume" now, it would be hard if we don't have a concept, such as Haruurara's challenge to the Arimakinen, the star of hope for the latecomers.

Editor A: Then let's do that.

Nakazato: Yes?

Editor A: Harulara and Arimakinen, that's catchy, isn't it?

Nakazato: Eh, ...... is really tight!

Editor A: Shallap! Do it.

HaruUrara, Kaorema 10 until you win the Arima Kinen!

So, from this point on, I'm going to start training HaruUrara in "Uma Musume Pretty Derby". Uma Musume Pretty Derby" (hereinafter referred to as "Uma Musume") is a media mix project by Cygames centered on a game application for smartphones. Players become trainers and train "Uma Musume," anthropomorphized racehorses, to become the top Uma Musume.

Uma Musume are a different race of horses with ears and tails. In the world of "Uma Musume," so-called "horses" do not exist. Legendary horses are reincarnated as Uma Musume, beautiful girls born in a different world similar to our own.

The Uma Musume run as fast as a racehorse.

Although the growth rate of Uma Musume is different from humans, they can marry and have children with humans.

Although the focus tends to be on the anthropomorphic attributes of Uma Musume, the word "elf," which is familiar in the fantasy world, comes up frequently when talking to people involved in the "Uma Musume" project. They have physical abilities beyond that of humans, but they can cry, laugh, and love each other just like humans, making them good neighbors for mankind. The races in the "Uma Musume" world are called twinkle races, not horse races, and there is no public gambling element such as ticket sales. Fans of "Umamusume" come to watch athletic competitions where beautifully sharpened top-class athletes gather to compete. Instead, after the race, the participating Umamusume perform a live victory show. The Twinkle Race is also a battle to decide the center position of the live performance after the race.

Why is it so hard for Haruurara to win the Arimakinen?

Harurara, the racehorse that Uma Musume and Harurara are modeled after, enjoyed a huge boom around 2003. Harurara is a horse that belongs to Kochi Racecourse, a local horse race track, and has a lifetime record of 113 races and 0 wins. He had never won a race, but he was a horse with the guts to keep on trying, and he captured the sympathy of the world's losers. It was also a time of economic recession.

Therefore, Harulara in "Uma Musume" is not a strong horsewoman. The grade of the horsegirls in "Uma Musume" is from ☆1 to ☆5. The more stars, the higher the rarity and the stronger the Umamusume. Harulara is the easiest to get, and it is not a bad choice for beginners to start training with Sakura Bakushinoh and Harulara, who are 1 star.

You may think that if you are going to train a horse, it is better to have a strong horsemanship. But that is where this game is very well designed. Each Umamusume has a "training goal". While Haru Urala will have to fight hard in low grade, easy-to-win races such as the Undefeated and the Open, top-class Umamusume are required to challenge for high goals such as "winning the Classic Triple Crown" from a young age. Mitsuharu Misawa also said that the Triple Crown is a tough task. Even for the elite, it is hard.

Each horse girl has her own aptitude in terms of "leg quality," "distance," and "stable," and each has an "aptitude" from A to G, with A being the strongest and G being the weakest (sometimes a monster is born with an S above A).

The "leg quality" is the timing of the horse's running, leading, pursuing, and chasing. A horse that runs away from the start will be the type that runs hard from the start, while a horse that chases will be the type that wins in the final stages of the race. In horse racing terminology, the act of charging ahead at full speed from the beginning is called "escape," while the winning strategy of turning the tables with a split-second sharpness in the final straight at the end of the race is called "shisu.

Distance" is easy to understand. It indicates which of short distance (~1400m), mile distance (1600m-1800m), middle distance (2000m-2400m), and long distance (2500m-) is the horse's strength.

For "ba place," which is better at turf/dirt. Dirt" is a sand course, a bit muddy race that is popular in local horse races. The reason "ba" is in katakana is because she is an umamusume, not a horse. Perhaps in this world, JR station is Takata Baja, and the world giant is Giant Baja.

Arima Kinen is a year-end festival race held at Nakayama Racecourse at the end of the year, and only Umamusume who are selected by votes are allowed to participate. The distance is 2500 meters, which is a long distance in the classification of "Umamusume," but it is also an exquisite distance where Umamusume who mainly race in the middle distance, the royal road, can also compete. The course is technical with many corners. It might be better to think of it as a special race called "Arima Kinen," which is neither a middle-distance nor a long-distance race. The best Uma Musume of the current generation gather there. We are going to compete against these legends with Haru Urala, a model with 113 wins in 113 races.

The appropriate rating for the Arimakanen is as follows,

Arima Kinen is a long distance (2500m) turf race. Let's look at the aptitude of Harulara: ......

Long distance: G, Turf: G

In other words, Harulara is the most unsuitable horse for the Arimakinen.

First, let's take a look at Harulara's basic aptitude. She is strong over short distances and good on dirt.

If she runs in a turf race where her aptitude does not match, the forecast will look something like this.

▲Here is what Gold Ship, the Arimakinen Uma Musume in historical fact, would look like.

In this series of articles, we will be looking at the weakest (?) horse in the series. The mission of this series of articles is to win the Arimakinen by HaruUrara, the weakest (?) Uma Musume.

The goal of the training!

To be continued in Part 2!
