The smartphone app "Identity V" is a one-on-four asymmetrical multiplayer game that began service in 2018. It has collaborated with anime and manga works such as "The Promised Neverland" and "Death Note."

From April 24 (Sat) to May 1 (Sat), 2021, the Internet festival "Nico Nico Net Cho-Kaigi 2021" will be held for a total of eight days. This time, a report on the "IDENTITY V High School Student Competition" held on April 25 (Sun.) and April 30 (Fri.) has arrived.

This event was the first official high school student tournament for the smartphone game app "IDENTITY V 5th Personality," and was held as part of the "Net Fighting Conference 2021," a festival for game fans and game tournaments held within the "Nico Nico Net Super Conference 2021. The tournament consisted of a preliminary round, a best-of-8 tournament, and a final round, with 32 teams of five players per team (one hunter and four survivors).

In the best-of-8 tournament on April 25, all the matches were highly competitive, with the "Defeated Of Yakiniku" and "AWI" winning without losing a single game. Yakiniku" and "AWI," who went undefeated, and "Something Cool Name," who lost in the first round but won in the loser's bracket, advanced to the semifinals and final. About the best 8 matches, the tournament management also praised them on Twitter, saying, "They showed such great coordination and determination that they were as good as the pros.

The first semifinal and final match was between "Defeated Of Yakiniku" and "AWI," with "Defeated Of Yakiniku" winning with their explosive formation and overwhelming strength.

In the second semifinal match, "Something Cool Name" and "AWI" faced off in the loser's bracket, with "Something Cool Name" advancing to the final. In the final match, "Defeated Of Yakiniku" won with overwhelming strength, all by 4 hangings, and won the title of "Strongest High School Student".

In the championship interview, "Defeated Of Yakiniku" leader Channu said, "To be honest, this team was meant to aim for the top 8. Watching everyone's performance, I gradually thought, 'Oh, we can go beyond the top 8,' and 'We can make it to the finals. In the end, our hunter, Koma, hung four. It was perfect.

Asked about the gathering of members, Channu said, "At first, Koma, a hunter, and I said, 'We want to participate in the high school tournament,' and we started gathering the members. Since we were high school students, it was hard to gather a team, but we started recruiting on Twitter and scouted out people we thought would be good. For about three to four weeks after the team was formed, the members practiced every day," he explained.

Also, the team name "Defeated Of Yakiniku" means "defeat of yakiniku," and since the team introduction also said, "If we lose, we will go out for yakiniku," the moderator asked, "What about yakiniku?" to which they replied, "We didn't lose, so I guess it's okay.

To commemorate the "High School Student Competition," KADOKAWA held a short story contest on its own novel submission site "Magical i-Land" entitled "Identity V: 'I' Lost in the World of the Fifth Personality," which was based on the world of "Identity V: The Fifth Personality. The grand prize winner was announced during the live broadcast of the finals.

Commenting on the competition, Nami Kari, the tournament commentator, said of the competition, "I think the members who participated in this competition and the members who participated from the preliminary round had a lot of time to practice, discuss things, and plan their strategies. As a fifth personality, I am happy to see the fifth personality included in the youth of high school students.
