GUNDAM UNIVERSAL CENTURY DEVELOPMENT ACTION (GUDA)

For more than 40 years since "Mobile Suit Gundam" was first broadcast in 1979, the "Gundam" series has sounded the alarm against the growing population and deteriorating global environment, and has encouraged human innovation through its various works. One of the symbols of these efforts is the concept of the Space Century, a new history that opens with the beginning of human immigration to space. The theme underlying the "Gundam" series is the confrontation of humankind as a species, rather than as an individual, in the vastness of space.

The BANDAI NAMCO Group believes that the message of population and global environmental issues in "Gundam" is valuable for the future of humanity, and we are working together with fans and external partners around the world to create a better world under the banner of "Gundam," using the Space Century as a lesson, The company will implement a variety of actions for the sake of future generations.

As the first GUDA project, the "Gunpla Recycling Project," a joint project by NAMCO BANDAI Holdings, BANDAI SPIRITS, NAMCO BANDAI Amusement, and BANDAI Logipal, has been launched in April 2021.

The goal of the project is to collect the runners that remain after "Gunpla" has been assembled and turn them into new plastic model products through chemical recycling, a state-of-the-art technology.

The new "Gundam Open Innovation" project invites new ideas and technologies to address population and global environmental issues!

In 2018 and 2019, the BANDAI NAMCO Group will implement the "BANDAI NAMCO Accelerator," which calls for business ideas that lead to CHANGE to the next stage, without being bound by conventional business models or common sense.

The "BANDAI NAMCO Accelerator" has now been revamped and the "Gundam Open Innovation" will be implemented as GUDA's second round.

Gundam Open Innovation" is a program that redefines the "cosmic century" in the real world, and, as in the world of Gundam, brings dreams and hopes for the future to reality by combining "Gundam" and "future technology" to address "social issues" faced in the real world.

The program will call for a wide range of innovative ideas and technologies in sustainable themes and areas that will lead to a future society, such as population problems, environmental issues, and space exploration, which are issues that we must face in the same way as in the world of "Gundam.

A briefing session and the start of entry is scheduled for mid-July. More details will be announced on the official website.
