Director:Kazuto Nakazawa Comment
I often hear the words "new and old" used as synonyms for "good and bad.
I have always been uncomfortable with this term, and have always thought that something old but good is no less than something new and good. I have always felt this way.
The Pirate Princess is an experiment in combining old and good things in terms of storytelling and production methods.
Inspired by the great cartoon classics I saw as a child, I made it as humanly possible as I could.
I feel nostalgic even though I am seeing it for the first time. I would be happy if you could feel such feelings and nostalgia.

■Music: Yuki Kajiura Comment

I am truly honored to have been allowed to compose the music for "The Pirate Princess," a romantic tale of treasure hunting at sea!
I was thrilled and delighted to compose the music for this adventurous journey on the sea.
The characters are not always straightforward, and the beauty of the scenery changes as they travel!
I can't wait to see the finished film until the end of the adventure.
We hope that the music is appropriate for the film and that everyone who watches it will also enjoy the sounds that color the world!

■Fena Hauptmann (CV: Asami Seto)

Impression of the film
The word "pirate" and setting off on a journey to a place based on memories... I had a gut feeling that this was going to be interesting. At first, I was very attracted to the existence of Fena. I wondered what this revolutionary woman could possibly do. And then there are the people around her who seem to be somewhat powerful. And the people around her who seemed to be very powerful, and who seemed to have some kind of plan. I was intrigued. As the story progressed with her at the center, there were scenes of fierce battles, serious confrontations with the unknown, and pure romance, and I thought that the charm of each character was fully demonstrated. The background art was so delicately drawn that you could almost smell the ocean, the Western-style cityscape, and Japanese-inspired landscapes, which are the main setting of the work. I thought that it was this kind of attention to detail that drew me into the story.

─ What is your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role?
She looks transparent and her beauty gave me an atmosphere that was something different from the people around her.
She has white skin and thin arms, and at first glance she seems fragile, but she has a tomboyish personality, and whatever she thinks comes out of her mouth and doesn't stop. She had a seriousness, guts, and a strong sense of compassion for her friends, which made her somewhat difficult to leave alone. And she was shy. Her ever-changing facial expressions were adorable. When playing Fena, I tried not to be distracted by the story, but to react freshly to each new event that came my way.

Yukimaru (CV: Yoshiaki Suzuki)

A young man of the Sanada family, who has protected the Hauptmann family for generations. He saved Fena during an incident 10 years ago. He is the most determined to protect Fena, but he does not speak much and is not very sociable.

Impression of the film
We recorded the original work as a prescreening, so the dialogue between Fena, the seven samurai, and the other characters is one of the most important parts of the film. I was also filled with elation at the beautiful scenery, the interweaving of Japanese and Western worlds, and the beginning of the journey and the deepening mystery. It is a work that makes you think about the roles and responsibilities given to each life.

─ Your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role
At first glance, Sesshomaru Sanada seems very cool and unflappable, but inside he is pure, with passionate feelings directed only at Fena, and has an innocent side to him. He is a person who has no fear of dying because protecting Fena is the most important thing.
I hope to play such a Sesshomaru with my own inner flame burning.

Shitan (CV: Takahiro Sakurai)

One of the elite troops of the Sanada family. He uses a bow in battle. At first glance, he appears aloof, but his feelings for his comrades are strong. He is a handsome man who is popular with the ladies because of his handsome face.

<Cast Comments

─ ─ Impression of this film
It was very interesting. It is a large scale film with a cinematic feel.
I would like the audience to pay attention to the intricate drama.

─ ─ Your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role
The character looks sexy with his big brotherly eyes and mannerisms.
I hope to portray him in a way that is both human and appealing.

Karin (CV: Yuuki Aoi)

One of the elite troops of the Sanada family. She uses a long gun in battle. She grew up in a family of blacksmiths, and when she starts talking about her passion for machines, she gets very passionate. She is a winsome and active girl.

<Cast Comments

─ ─ Impression of this work
I am impressed by how a royal story becomes like this when it evolves to the cutting edge! I am very impressed.
I loved it because it had the promise of being enjoyable for everyone, but also included new areas of interest!

─ What is your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role?
Hanashi is basically a fun-loving character, but when she gets it right, she gets it right, and she is a very cool girl.
She has a good tempo in her arguments with her friends, pokes fun at Fena, and makes the audience feel at ease with her various facial expressions.
But his craftsmanship is super cool. He is also very cool and flexible in battle.
I enjoyed playing the role, focusing on the tempo!

Enju (CV: Hajime Sato)

One of the elite troops of the Sanada family. He uses a spear and side arms in battle. He is the elder of twins. He has a friendly personality and a mischievous side, but he thinks he is more solid than Kaede.

<Cast Comments

─ Impression of this work
I thought this work was exactly what the phrase "a blend of Japanese and Western styles" should be used to describe.
I wanted to see such a world view...! I wanted to share the entire world with the audience.

─ What is your impression of the character you are playing and your enthusiasm for the role?
Since Kei is a twin of Kaede, I was very careful to make sure that the conversation between Kei and Osaka-san, who plays Kaede, was always in sync with each other. I also made sure to always look around and do my best, as opposed to my daily behavior.

Kaede (CV: Ryota Osaka)

Kaede is one of the Sanada family's elite troops. He uses a spear and side arms in battle. He is the younger of twins. He has a friendly personality and a mischievous side, but he thinks he is more manly than Kei.

<Cast Comments

─ ─ Impression of this work
I thought it was going to be very serious when I heard the title, but surprisingly, there are a lot of comedic elements, and it develops in an atmosphere like the main character and his funny friends. It is a work with an atmosphere I have not seen before, so I am looking forward to seeing the finished product.

─ What is your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role?
I play one half of the twins, and my partner is Motoi Sato, so we are very fresh, and it was difficult to match our tensions, but I think we make a good combination. He is the mood maker of the team, so I enjoyed playing him.

Tsubaki (CV: Jun Osuga)

Tsubaki is one of the Sanada family's elite troops. He uses a short ninja sword in battle. He is the oldest and is in charge of the kitchen, serving food to everyone. He is a man of common sense who takes on all the blabbermouths of his friends by himself. His stomach always hurts.

<Cast Comments

─ ─ Impression of this work
I am not sure if it is appropriate to use this word in this day and age, but I thought it was a "dense" work.
I tried not to lose to the power of the screenplay and the power of the pictures and the amount of information packed into each cut.

─ What is your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role?
The oldest of the samurai who accompany Fena.
He is in a position to lead the unique members of the group, but I get the impression that he is pushed around a lot.
He yells at them and takes care of them. He is like a "mama".
I wonder if we will be able to see his "samurai" side...?

Makaba (CV: Shintaro Tanaka)

One of the Sanada family's elite troops. In battle, he excels at close combat with his knuckle duster. He is the biggest and strongest among his comrades. He is a gentle boy with a kind heart.

Impression of this film
Every episode is so beautifully filmed that you are drawn into the world of the film. The story is full of mysteries, laughter, and battles, so I had a lot of fun during the recording sessions!
I really looked forward to every recording session, and we all laughed a lot while recording. I really looked forward to every recording session, and we all laughed a lot while recording. The beauty of the visuals combined with the acting and the acting was so great that even as an anime otaku, I can't wait to see the movie! I can't wait to see it!
The story is of course interesting, but I personally want you to pay attention to the fast-paced daily conversation scenes between the samurai.
It's very interesting.

─ What is your impression of the character you play and how do you feel about the role?
Makaba, the character I play, is a big guy who is usually quiet and watches over the Samurai from behind, but when the time comes, he takes the initiative to help his friends and is a man of kindness. I also have similarities between a big man and a big eater, so I wanted to be a person of kindness and strength like Shinkaba. When I play the role, I don't speak as much as the other samurai, so I have to put my heart into each line and be present in the scene. I am alive. I am laughing with everyone. I was conscious of the fact that I was fighting. So, there are not many scenes in the story where I talk a lot and clash with everyone, but I hope you will pay attention to Shinkaba who pops up in conversation, Shinkaba who is doing something in the background, and cool Shinkaba who is powerful and fights.

Everyone~ best regards~ (Shinkaba)

■Salman (CV: Manabu Muraji)

One of the knights who served the Hauptmann family and knew Fena as a child. In his younger days, he was a spear master who was feared as "Saruman the Marauder. Now he is missing a tooth and cannot say "sa" properly.

<Cast Comments

─ ─ Impression of this work
This is an exciting work with a Japanese spirit and Western sensibility! Each character stands out, and the humidity is conveyed through the beautiful paintings.

─ ─ Impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role
I have never played a role like this before, both in terms of character and age, but I borrowed from Hirata-san's chest and let myself "go all out" as much as I wanted. I am looking forward to the finished product!

Otto (CV: Hiroaki Hirata)

Otto is one of the knights who served the Hauptmann family and knew Fena as a child. In his younger days, he was called "Otto the Blitzkrieg" and was known for his lightning-fast swordsmanship. Now he has a large belly and cannot move quickly.

<Cast Comments

─ ─ Impression of this film
I was asked directly by the director to play this role, so I don't remember much about how I felt about the world of the story as a whole, probably because I was so absorbed in my performance.
It was a completely prescreened recording, and I was impressed by how beautiful the video for the recording was.

─ What is your impression of the character you play and your enthusiasm for the role?
This is a new challenge for me.
I was scared to play the role, but my partner, Salman, is played by Manabu Muraji, who is the same age as me, and I entrusted everything to him and jumped into the role of Otto.

I left it all up to him and jumped into the role of Otto.
