WIT STUDIO is producing the animation and Tatsuhei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara are composing the series and writing the script for the original TV anime "Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song-" (hereinafter referred to as "Vivy").

The 100-year long journey of Matsumoto, an AI whose mission is to "correct history with Vivy and stop the war between AI and humans that will occur 100 years from now," and Vivy, an AI "diva," is finally reaching its climax. A great mystery has been revealed, and we cannot take our eyes off what the outcome will be.

In this interview, we asked Atsumi Tanesaki, who plays the main character, Vivi, about the story.

Vivi has been interfering in events surrounding humans and AI for 100 years, and has been carrying out the "Singularity Project" to avoid the worst-case scenario of a war between humans and AI. However, the end result was too cruel. ......

The film took a shocking turn just before the final episode, but how will it end?

─ ─ "Sing My Pleasure" by Vivy (Vo. Kairi Yagi) ranked high in the " 2021 Spring Anime OP Theme Popularity Poll " conducted by Akiba Research Institute. How do you feel about this result?

Tanesaki: Yagi's voice and the song are really wonderful, so I think "Yes, of course it is," and I am genuinely happy with the result. I am genuinely happy with the result. When Vivi understands what it means to put one's heart and soul into something, she will be number one by a long shot. ...... It's great that there is room for growth!

───What are your impressions of Vivi's (Vo. Kairi Yagi) songs, including "Sing My Pleasure"?

Tanesaki: Her singing voice drew me in so easily. When I heard her singing on the CD and when I saw her singing in the live video, I thought many times, "It would feel so good to sing like that ....... I love that I can feel how the songs are growing and changing with Vivi. Personally, I like the song "My Code" the best. It was also the first song they recorded.

─ ─ Do you have any particular favorites or impressive songs by other AI divas?

Tanezaki: I will never forget the song "Ensemble for Polaris" that Estella and Elizabeth sang at the ending of episode 4, because of the situation in which the song was played and the power of the video.

The climbing sun, the falling sunrise. Their singing voice was very touching to me.

─ ─ Now that we are approaching the final episode, what are your impressions of the story up to this point? (Please tell us if there is anything that reading the story made you think about.)

Tanesaki: Even though I know everything about the story, each episode hits me more deeply than I expected. Each episode is really rich because it started from the original novel and has been made over a long period of time, and I thought about many things while watching it. I am very happy to see this movie!

─ ─ The beautiful images and action scenes are also a topic of conversation, aren't they?

Tanesaki: My ability to verbalize is so poor that it is frustrating that I am unable to express this emotion in precise words. The powerful action scenes and the delicate facial expressions of the characters (......) really pull you into the story when you are watching it as a viewer, and after watching it, as a performer, I can't stop thanking the people who created the images. I am very happy to be able to feel this in every episode of this work. I am truly honored to have been involved.

─ Which scene or line made the biggest impression on you?

Tanesaki: In episode 6, the line "Please be happy" to Dr. Saeki came to my mind the most. But as soon as I heard Kensho Ono's voice, I was able to say the lines. So, in many ways, it left a lasting impression on me.

─ I felt that Vivi's (Diva's) facial expressions and the way she acted changed depending on the era (episode). What were you consciously aware of and what were the difficulties in each of the episodes?

Tanesaki: I am not aware that I was conscious of it, but in the beginning, I think I subconsciously knew that the range of AI Vivi's sound was around this range ....... As Vivi changed, it became more and more difficult. As Vivi changed, it gradually faded away. What was difficult was to imagine how much force to put into it. I was conscious of the fact that I should be silent in basic fight scenes and when running, and that I should not speak except when "unexpected.

───Do you have any episodes of behind-the-scenes stories between the cast members or scenes in which you were impressed by the other cast members' performances?

Tanesaki: Like Vivi, Matsumoto also changes in a subtle way. In addition, the exquisite ad-libs in every episode - Mr. Fukuyama's performance of Matsumoto was really good from beginning to end, and he helped me a lot in playing Vivi. I could go on and on about all the other great things about each of the cast members, and I really got a lot from everyone. I can't begin to tell you what I thought of each and every one of the cast members, and it's all been accumulated in Vivi.

The story is reaching its climax. What are the highlights of the last part of the story?

Tanesaki: The end of the story ...... is almost at the end of the journey. The highlight of the story is the 100-year journey so far. Vivi, whose mission is to make everyone happy through singing, kept thinking about what it means to "put your heart into it." ...... We would be happy if you could witness the answer together with us.
