Seiko Watch x "Castle in the Sky" collaboration model goes on sale July 23! Flying stone emblems and spells are also available!

Watch brand Seiko Presage will release a series of limited-quantity models inspired by Studio Ghibli's "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" in Japan and overseas starting July 23 (Fri.).

This second collaboration was realized based on the idea of "Japanese sincere craftsmanship" that Presage and Studio Ghibli hold dear.This model expresses the world of "Laputa: Castle in the Sky," a feature-length animated film by Studio Ghibli, one of Japan's leading animation studios, with the traditional technology and design of Presage.

The special design is based on the concept of "inheritance of feelings," which is common to both Presage and Studio Ghibli.
"Laputa: Castle in the Sky" is a fantasy adventure on a grand scale in which Pazoo inherits his father's dream and sets out with Sita for Laputa, the castle in the sky. Pleasure" is a made-in-Japan watch brand that has inherited Seiko's more than 100 years of watchmaking history and know-how, and offers a wide range of products that fuse tradition and technology.

This collaborative model is based on the concept of "inheritance of feelings," which is common to both brands, and is inspired by the depiction of their works, expressing the appearance of tools that are loved over time.
The warm expression of the nostalgic enamel dial supervised by enamel craftsman Mitsuru Yokozawa, the heavy cordovan strap, and the specially tailored crown that allows the wearer to feel the winding of the mainspring with his fingers, evoke various thoughts, such as dreams, longings, and precious experiences held in boyhood.

■The nostalgic world of the work is expressed throughout
The emblem of the flying stone that Sita wears as a pendant is placed at the 6 o'clock position on the enamel dial. The crown is made of glass to reproduce the flying stone. On the glass back of the caseback is a photograph taken when Pazoo's father discovered the castle in the sky, and on the metal back of the caseback is the incantation "Rite Latvalita Urs Arialos Bar Netril" ("Save me, Light arise" in the words of Laputa), which plays an important role in the story.

The combination of Roman numeral indexes reminiscent of a clock tower, soft dial colors, and retro-looking "spectacle hands" express nostalgia, while the thick cordovan strap with stitching further accentuates the nostalgic atmosphere. On the back of the strap is the pattern of a stone monument in Laputa.

In addition, the dual-curved sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating on the inner surface provides excellent legibility with minimal distortion from any angle.

This product is equipped with the new caliber 6R31, which has no calendar function, while maintaining the specifications of Seiko's high-performance mechanical movement caliber 6R35. The absence of a calendar function gives the dial a simplified impression, further enhancing the nostalgic world of Laputa.

Furthermore, the watch has a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, making it practical enough to be used on the following Monday without having to wear it on the weekend.

The special box with a foil-stamped image of Laputa comes with a card with a message from Hayao Miyazaki: "Let's live our lives without being bound by time.
