Who-ya Extended "Icy Ivy

Profile of Who-ya Extended
Who-ya Extended (Who-ya Extended) is a creators' unit centered around vocalist Who-ya.
They made their major debut in November 2019 after being selected for the opening of the TV anime "PSYCHO-PASS Psycho-Pass 3," which aired on Fuji Television's "Noitamina" in November 2019. The song "Q-vism" was distributed at the same time as the anime started airing, and it temporarily swept the distribution charts, reaching No. 1 on the iTunes overall chart and No. 1 on Amazon's digital popularity ranking. In 2021, "Q-vism" was the opening theme song for the popular anime "Jujutsu Kaisen," which reached No. 1 on the Oricon Daily Digital Single Ranking as of January 16. In May, he appeared on "THE FIRST TAKE," a YouTube channel that captures one-shot performances in vivid detail. His sensitive performance became the talk of the town.

Who-ya Extended Comment
─ About the opening theme.
My name is Who-ya Extended, and I am in charge of the opening theme.
The new song "Icy Ivy" is an antithesis to fate and oppression, just like the main characters, the brothers, who live desperately not to be swallowed by the vortex of predetermined causes and effects.
The song is sung with the power to shed light on the darkness that each person, including myself, carries.
I hope you enjoy the song as well as the song itself, which is full of a sense of speed, as if you are running through the city at night.

─ Do you have a message for your fans?
The new song "Icy Ivy" is a song with the essence of a certain will, scattered among the grandeur and speed created by the digital sound.
What will be created when it is crossed with the world of the anime...?
We hope that you will look forward to the music as much as the work itself.
I am very excited to see how the anime will turn out, and I can't help but look forward to it. Let's dive into the world of "NIGHT HEAD 2041" together this summer!

Character & Additional Cast Information

Honorifics omitted in the original text.

Michio Sonezaki (CV: Kazuyuki Okitsu)

Belongs to the National Security Headquarters' Special Operations Unit.
He has a rivalry with Takuya, who belongs to the same unit.

[Comment by Kazuyuki Okitsu]

"NIGHT HEAD 2041" Night Head? That Night Head?
I used to live in Kansai and I had a huge admiration for it, that Night Head? I checked with the office.
The character I played, Sonezaki, had a dangerous scent to him. I thought he was a man who would cut you if you touched him.
NIGHT HEAD 2041" is finally going to start airing!
Please keep your eyes scrupulously on the future of the brothers!

Reika Muto (CV. Lynn)

She is a member of the National Security Headquarters' Special Forces Unit.
She is the reddest of the male members of the special operations unit.

[Lynn comments]

I was very excited when I heard that a popular TV drama was going to be adapted into an anime after 30 years, and in an even more advanced form. Reika, the red-chip of the security force, is strong and tough, and it was very interesting to play her and Sonezaki as a pair.
The unique worldview of the show made me wonder, "What will happen next week? What is going to happen next week? What is going to happen to that character? I am sure that if you watch the show, you will be able to empathize with the characters. I hope you will immerse yourself in this mysterious future.

Daisuke Honda (CV: Yasuhiro Mamiya)

Head of the National Security Headquarters' Special Mission Unit.

[Comment by Yasuhiro Mamiya]

NIGHT HEAD" was broadcast as a TV drama in the 1990s.
For me, as an elementary school student at that time, "supernatural power" was a "power that everyone wanted and longed for," while "suffering, sadness, and despair due to having supernatural power" were depicted in the drama. I remember being deeply fascinated by its serious and dark worldview.
Then came the year 2021.
Having seen a bit more of the other side of the world since then, I am very honored to be able to perform in that world, and I am delighted to be able to play the character of Daisuke Honda.

I am very happy to be able to play the role of Daisuke Honda.
If I could have it and use it freely, it would be such a wonderful gift.
But what if someone else has it and uses it against you or your loved ones? If someone else has it and uses it against you or someone you care about, and even more so, if it hurts you or destroys your social system, it is nothing but a "threat" to the world.
This work is a story of two brothers who are considered a "threat" and two brothers who try to "eliminate" the threat.
I hope you will enjoy watching this work to the end and find out what lies beyond the encounter between the two pairs of siblings.

Kimie Kobayashi (CV: Yoko Hikasa)

A mysterious woman who is working with Miracle Mick, who is being pursued by the National Security Headquarters, and who runs into the Kirihara brothers at a diner where they stop by.

[Yoko Hikasa comments]

After 30 years, "NIGHT HEAD" has been revived as a new original animation.
It is a work that shows off the qualities that only animation can bring, and I think that both those who have seen the drama and those who are watching it for the first time will enjoy it.
Enjoy the broadcast!

■Yui Akiyama (CV. Rena Ueda)

She works as a waitress at a diner where the Kirihara brothers stop by.

[Rena Ueda comments]

When I heard that I was going to be in the show, I thought "NIGHT HEAD...that NIGHT HEAD...? My head hurts, brother...! I was very excited. Yui is a lovely and strong woman. Please look out for her movements in the film.
I am sure that you will see a new look for a work that has fascinated so many people up until now.
I did my best to make the dialogue between the characters more attractive.
I hope you enjoy it!

Shoko Futami (CV. Kaori Maeda)

A mysterious girl whom the Kuroki siblings met at an abandoned building during the security team's mission to capture Miracle Mick.

[Kaori Maeda commented]

When I heard that I had been chosen to appear in the film, I was simply astonished. I was very happy to be a part of the world of this work, which was dramatized for TV in the past. Shoko Futami is a role that I have never played before, and I was worried about whether I would be able to play the role, but I was positive and determined to do my best and learn as much as I could! I was determined to do my best and learn as much as I could.

I am Kaori Maeda, and I will be playing the role of Shoko Futami.
I am sure you will be drawn in by the mysteries that deepen with each episode and the intriguing developments that await you!
I am looking forward to seeing what will happen next, and I hope that everyone will join me in watching over "NIGHT HEAD 2041" and getting excited about it!
Thank you very much for your cooperation!

Kyojiro Mikuriya (CV: Banjo Ginga)

He imprisoned the Kirihara brothers in a research facility since they were young and raised them for 15 years.

[Comment by Banjo Ginga].

It's not YOASOBI, it's YOATAMA, "NIGHT HEAD". I'm in trouble. It's difficult.
The strict fatherly element, the all-encompassing tenderness, the determination to continue to watch over, the pain of what had to be sacrificed, the hope to believe and entrust, the prayer. ...... What are you going to do! Kimi.

After nearly 30 years, the drama is coming back - and that's why we have a large group of the most popular voice actors of the moment. I will do my best not to get in the way! I say "do my best," but I'm not a gutsy or fighting type, so please be gentle with me there. Coho-coho.

<Introduction
The cult favorite "NIGHT HEAD" will be revived...
Original TV animation "NIGHT HEAD" with a new script written by Joji Iida, the author of the original work.
NIGHT HEAD 2041", an original TV animation series, has begun!

NIGHT HEAD" was dramatized for TV in 1992 and became a cult favorite.
The story of brothers Naoto and Naoya Kirihara, who suffer because of their supernatural powers, attracted many fans, not only science fiction fans.
Now, 30 years later, the story has been revived as "NIGHT HEAD 2041," an original TV animation based on a script by Joji Iida, the original author who also directed the TV drama.
In addition to the Kirihara brothers who appeared in the TV drama version, another pair of brothers, the Kuroki brothers, who are hunting them down, appear in the new "NIGHT HEAD" story.

Production is by Shirogumi, which has produced numerous video works, from live-action films using VFX to animated TV series.
Takamitsu Hirakawa, who worked as CG director on "Utetama" and "revisions," makes his directorial debut with this film.
The original character design is by Korehito Oogure, who has written numerous popular serials including "Air Gear," "Tenjo Tenga," and "Bakemonogatari," and draws beautiful and delicate characters.

Naoto and Naoya Kirihara are "brothers on the run" who are persecuted by the world because of their supernatural abilities.
The "brothers" Takuya and Yuya Kuroki are "chasing" those with abilities as members of the National Security Forces.

Two pairs of brothers at the mercy of each other.
They should never have met...
