Interview] Released 2nd EP "Good Night, Good Morning"! Gothic×Luck invites you to the world of dreams!

Gothic×Luck, a two-member voice actor unit born from the "Kemono Friends" new unit audition, has released their second EP "Oyasumi Ohayo" (Good Night, Good Morning) containing six songs. The six songs were created based on the concept of "dreams," and the album is one in which members Mashiro Yagi and Madoka Suga can feel their own personal growth!
In this interview, the two members look back on their history from their first meeting to the present, and talk about the highlights of their second EP, "Good Night, Good Morning". They call each other "Shi-chan" (Yagi) and "Kan-chan" (Kan), and say they have become closer and closer compared to when they first formed the unit. Their well-matched talk made for an interview full of smiles.

I think you will feel the evolved Gokuraku in the 2nd EP.

───Gothic×Luck is an EP release for both the first and second albums, and it contains more songs than a regular single, right?

Suga Yes, it has been a little while since our 1st EP, but we were able to release our 2nd EP "Good Night, Good Morning", which contains 6 songs, after 2 years and 3 months.

─ ─ You released the single "Sakura Tenohira" in March of last year, but at that time there was only one song, so it seems like you have a lot more songs this time around.

Suga: Yes. The number of songs has increased to the point where I have trouble choosing songs at live performances.

Yagi That's a luxurious problem (laughs). But let's try to make it even more difficult!

Tatsuya: Compared to your first EP "Starry Story EP", how do you feel you have grown?

Suga: We sang the ending theme "Hoshi wo Tsunagete" for the TV anime "Kemono Friends 2" that started in January 2019, and we released the "Starry Story EP" in March right after that. Compared to that time, I think we have grown a lot in our singing voice and live performance.


Yagi: When we first met at the audition for the new unit of "Kemono Friends" and started our activities as Gothic x Luck, we were always together because both Kan-chan and I were anxious. There was a time when we both looked at each other as if we were hanging on each other.

Suga Indeed (laughs).

Yagi But as we went through various experiences, we gradually came to understand each other and were able to express our true feelings. We were able to express our individual "selves," or rather, we were able to be ourselves in any situation. After that, we released our second EP, "Good Night, Good Morning," and I think we were able to express our feelings more honestly. I would be happy if you could feel the evolved Gokuraku.

─ ─ What were your first impressions of each other when you first met?

Yagi: The final selection for the "Kemono Friends" new unit audition was a group interview for a group of four, and I was in the same group as Kan-chan. Kan-chan was tall and wore mature clothes, so I thought she seemed calm. But when we started talking after the audition, she was very bright and funny, and she had a very distinctive way of laughing (laughs).

Suga Ha-ha-ha (laughs).

Yagi He also had a goofy side to him. When he sang, he couldn't get the lyric cards to come out right, so he would say, "Oh, wait a minute, please wait a minute.

Suga I remember being really impatient (laughs).

Yagi The judges couldn't help but giggle. But Kan-chan's impatience made the atmosphere of the place more relaxed.

Suga The judges were very kind. Shi-chan was sitting next to me. She was cute and smiled at me when I was flustered, and I thought she was a wonderful person. I also remember that she offered me sweets after the audition.

Yagi: When I was waiting, there were onigiri (rice balls) and sweets on the table. I was too nervous to eat the onigiri, but the snacks were delicious and relaxing, so I asked Kan-chan, who was standing in front of me, "Did you eat the snacks? I asked Kan-chan, who was standing right in front of me, "Did you eat the snacks?

Suga I thought she was "so cute! (laughs). (Laughs) And she also looked very firm.

Yagi: Recently, I have been able to reveal more of myself in front of Kan-chan, and I sometimes feel that she is more solid than I am. She may look like this, but she is a surprisingly well-behaved girl (laughs).

Yes, that's right (laughs). You could say that they are polar opposites in terms of personality, and I think that is why they are easy to be with.

Yagi: We have come to understand each other's strengths and weaknesses, and we are able to rely on each other.

─ ─ What is it that you are good at, for example?

Suga What? What is it?

Yagi This girl's strongest point is when she is not thinking about anything. It sounds strange to say, but she is good at letting things run wild (laughs). She expresses a lot of emotion, and when she talks about her impressions of a song, the words just keep coming out, and I am sure they are resonating with her fans. I am good at conveying information properly, but my reactions tend to be small. I think we make a great team.

Suga: I am in charge of enlivening the conversation! (laugh) I think it is because Shi-chan is a solid MC that the staff says, "You can do whatever you want, Kan-chan.
