Fully revived after 46 years of time! I made the "New Combined Series Plastic Model Vol. 1 Combined Atlanger," a bargain kit that lets you enjoy both robots and beautiful girls in a single box! Taiyuki's Weekend Plastic Model Kit Vol. 34
When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!
The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.
So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Weekend Plastic Model! The 34th issue of the series has begun!
34th New Combined Series Plastic Model #1: Combined Atlanger
Now, we would like to introduce
Aoshima Bunkakizai Shaisha, a.k.a. Aoshima
Aoshima Bunka Kyozai-sha is proud to present the newest addition to their Gattai series, the Atlanger!
This is the "New Combined Series Plastic ModelVol. 1Combined Atlanger"!
Many fans of robot animation and character plastic models may be familiar with the "Atlanger"! The "Atlanger" is a legendary character that first appeared 46 years ago in 1975 as an original robot produced by Aoshima Bunka Kyozai, and has been rapidly gaining recognition and popularity over the past few years.
Today, it is common for plastic model manufacturers to develop their own character kits, but Atlanger can be called the originator of this trend!
This kit includes a kit of a new version of the Atlanger robot and a kit of a girl named "Hotaka Atori" who is the main character of the story, making it a large-volume kit with two kits in one box.
The scale is "non-scale," so it is fun to play with the combination of Atlanger and Atori-san, ignoring the scale!
On the side of the package, you will find a photo of a painted finished model and an explanation of the "Combined Atlanger".
The box contains runners for two kits, so there are quite a few colorful runners in the box. There are only a few stickers to aid in color separation. As for Atori's face, three painted parts with different expressions, an unpainted face, and even water-transfer decals are included! Just by assembling the figure, you can have a cool Atlanger and a cute Atori at your fingertips.
Click here to see the live stream of such assembly!
You can also watch it on the TouTube channel "Taiyuki's Hobby".
Part 1
Part 2
And here is the finished product! First, let's start with Atlanger!
What do you think of the design on the box I showed you at the beginning, which was the Atlanger design released 46 years ago? The "New Combined Series Plastic Model No. 1 Combined Atlanger" picks up the characteristics of the original, and is a robot with a strange charm that combines nostalgia and novelty!
The head is Atlanger, no matter how you look at it! Compared to the old kit, the design has a more three-dimensional appearance. The chest is decorated with a bird design, and the blue clear parts shine brightly.
The arms and legs are also decorated with bird feathers. The red ring design is another feature inherited from the original design. In the old kit, these rings were used to hold the parts in place, but this is not the case in this kit. Incidentally, this kit can be assembled without using any adhesives, just like the old kit.
The wing of the giant robot is unusually Λ-shaped instead of V-shaped. The shoulder armor also has both smooth lines and sharp parts.
Looking at the legs from behind, you can see the mechanical design.
Now let's take a look at the range of motion.
The neck joint has an L-shaped bendable joint, so it can be rotated, and by changing the direction of the joint, it can be tilted back and forth, left and right.
The shoulder connection itself is an axis, but it can rotate and swing up, down, back and forth, which is sufficient for the range of motion.
Roll rotation is possible under the shoulder blocks and above the elbows. The elbows can bend about 90°.
The wrists are ball-jointed for easy attachment and removal, as there are also exchangeable wrists. They can be rotated and snapped.
The torso can be flexed back and forth and left to right at the joints in the chest and at the waist. Can also rotate at the waist connection.
There is also a movable part at the base of the wing.
The front/back and left/right leg openings are quite wide.
Roll rotation on thighs. Knees can be bent quite deeply.
Ankle joints are movable up and down, roll rotation at the base with the shin, and roll rotation is also possible at the base of the ankle and joint, so ground contact is quite good.
Next, an action pose utilizing the movable joints!
A powerful pose with its feet on the ground is a must. This is a super robot.
You can also use her flat hand to create cool poses like this. It looks surprisingly cool.
And since there is a joint hole on the back, you can use a commercially available stand to create flying poses like this!
The original Atlanger also has a new weapon. These are the "Broken Cutter" (sword) and "Miracle Defender" (shield). Both of them have been arranged to look much cooler than the original design.
The Broken Cutter can be held by the left and right "weapon holding wrists.
The Miracle Defender is fixed to the removed feather decoration of the arm joint while the grips are assembled to the weapon-carrying wrists.
Since it is several times larger than the original Broken Cutter, it can be posed in a powerful pose!
The Miracle Defender has also been enlarged, greatly increasing its defensive capabilities!
Thanks in part to its superior joints, the Broken Cutter can now be held in both hands.
He jumps up and swings his sword down with all his might! The super-robotic pose is nothing to sneeze at, either!
Now, let's take a look at the other main character, Atori Hotaka.
By the way, if you don't put the sticker on her, Atori herself might say, "This isn't a complete slut! Be careful!
Atori Hotaka in a bold outfit. Her skin is slightly white, her hair is light, and she has a cheerful expression on her face. To find out why she is wearing this outfit, please refer to the comic published on Dengeki Hobby Web.
The head, with its beautiful clear parts, is connected with ball joints. As you can see, the head is movable and can flex and rotate back and forth, left and right.
The shoulder joints are also ball-jointed and can be rotated and the arms can be lifted horizontally.
The arms can also swing slightly up and down and forward and backward.
Elbows can be bent more than 90 degrees and roll and rotate with two arms. The wrists are connected using movable joints, allowing them to rotate and snap slightly.
The torso is movable. First of all, the chest section can be bent back and forth, left and right, and twisted by bolt joint connection.
The waist can also be flexed back and forth.
Flexible leg openings.
Roll rotation in the middle of the thigh. Knees can bend nearly 180°.
No roll rotation at the base of the ankle, but toes can be extended and lifted, and lateral swing is possible at the top of the foot.
Relaxed flat hand or clenched fist.
or a clenched fist.
Atri also has a weapon wrist, allowing him to hold the Atlanger's weapon.
The range of motion is excellent, and you can even have him hold the weapon in both hands.
The back of her head also comes with joint holes, which can be replaced to allow her to be equipped with a hair ornament that combines the Atlanger's arm ornament and joint parts. If the diameter of the shaft is correct, it seems that various things can be equipped.
You can also reassemble the Broken Cutter and Miracle Defender parts at ......
It is possible to connect to the joint of Atri's arm. It will be a type of armament fixed to the arm.
I also replaced the wrists with extended fingers.
And furthermore, it is possible to combine with Atlanger's parts.
First, disassemble the Atlanger.
Add optional parts to the waist block and assemble such a block.
Transform the toes.
The Miracle Defender is also disassembled and wing parts are assembled using each joint parts.
Combine these parts of the Atlanger with the yellow wing parts using joint parts and other parts.
The combined form with Atri is completed.
Attach the included thruster parts and other parts to the Atlanger's arms to complete the booster-equipped punch.
Connect the Atlanger parts to Atri. It will be a flight unit and sub-arm-like equipment.
This is how it looks from the back. Because of the large size of the back, it looks as if Atlanger's legs are used as a support to make it stand up, rather than making Atri stand on its own.
So far we have seen a lot of gimmicks for combining, but combining means separating as well. Just like the "Combined Series" in the past, this series also has a variety of unique separate mecha forms!
First, Atlanger's head, with its chest ornament reassembled, and then using joint parts
The Grand Tiger is complete. It is a small, high-speed jet aircraft.
Next, combining the parts you see around the chest
Mighty Bird is completed. It is a mysterious mechanism that is difficult to understand by the common sense of modern people. This is one of the charms of the Atlanger's separate mechanisms.
This is Red Wing, arms, and Broken Cutter.
This is Red Clipper. It is a coherent mecha as a flying object that merges with a robot.
Lastly, the lower body and Miracle Defender are the main separating mecha.
Target carrier. It looks like a working mech that uses its legs as arms.
Now, here are the new Atlanger's separate mechanisms. You can create various other mecha depending on your ideas. Make your own original mecha and show it off to everyone!
Also, although not included in the instruction manual, the flying form seen in various media can of course be reproduced. The position of the head connection is typical of the "Combined Series" form.
However, in this form, there are still some Atlanger parts left over. So, I decided to make the flying form with the goal of "using up all the Atlanger parts".
What do you think? I am sure that everyone who reads this will have ideas like "I would do this! I am sure that everyone reading this will have their own ideas. Please try to create your own flight configuration.
Now, since I have reviewed practically two kits, I am sure that the volume of this article is quite large, but I would like to add my usual "one more touch" here.
Jean!
Among the yellow parts, only the parts that are supposed to be ornaments are painted in gold. Broken cutters are also painted in silver. And I attached red lappy tape that I bought at a hundred-yen store to the red ring-shaped parts of the arms, thighs, and shin. The lappie tape gives a plating-like shine, so it looks a little more luxurious when used to hold the points.
Atri-san smiles and makes a V-sign with the gorgeous hair ornament.
I like the gold color's massive look. The shine of the red lapis tape is also good.
I think the impression of a mysterious super robot has been emphasized.
So, what do you think of this "Atlanger," which will expand your play beyond the scope of a simple description?
To be honest, the games we have introduced here are only a small part of the potential of this kit. You can master the combination of parts, or paint and build with gusto.
You can also combine it with the "Combined Atlanger Ω" that is currently available for pre-order at the Aoshima ONLINE SHOP, or the "Combined Musashi" that is scheduled to be released in the future, to further expand the possibilities of your original robot.
I am personally very happy to see the "New Combined Series".
In fact, I had the opportunity to create an example of Aoshima's "Combined Series" in the book "Outsider Plastic Model Art:TheUnusual Imagination of Aoshima Bunka Kyozai-sha" and was looking forward to the return of this series. I have been looking forward to the revival of the Combined Series.
I am very much looking forward to seeing what kind of story will unfold and what kind of items will appear in the future (including the name "Shired" in the comic).
See you soon!
Also, a Red Hawk Yamato that I personally made!
This is at one of the exhibitions.
Aaah! I want to make it again!
