Seven animation studios, including Production I.G, participate in the new project "Star Wars: Visions! Special video released!
Disney+, Disney's official video distribution service, will begin simultaneous distribution of "Star Wars: Visions" in Japan and the United States on September 22, 2021.
Star Wars" is an unprecedented entertainment series that has filled the entire world with excitement and delight, and has continued to create a social phenomenon. Lucasfilm, the creator of the most famous series in the galaxy, announced a new project "Star Wars: Visions" with Japan, the country where Star Wars was created, at the end of last year. Now, information on the seven animation studios participating in this unprecedented project between Japanese animation studios and Star Wars, the titles of each studio's films, and distribution dates, as well as a special video, have been released.
At "Anime Expo Lite," a digital version of "Anime Expo," the largest animation event in North America, held in Los Angeles, USA, Lucasfilm announced that Jackie Lopez (Executive Producer), James Waugh (Executive Producer), and Josh Rhimes (Executive Producer) from Lucasfilm appeared at the event and spoke passionately about their thoughts on the project and their respect for the Japanese animation studio.
George Lucas, the creator of "Star Wars," has openly stated that he drew much of his inspiration from Japanese mythology and Akira Kurosawa's films. This influence has been carried through to all of his films to the present day, and the themes, stories, and characters in Star Wars are all deeply rooted in Japanese culture.
Finally, Star Wars returns to its "creative roots" in Japan. Star Wars: Visions," a project that combines Star Wars with Japanese animation, a symbol of modern Japanese culture and a creative force that has had a profound influence on entertainment around the world, is now underway. The participation of renowned animation studios has been announced.
Kamikaze Animation" has received worldwide acclaim for the opening image for the "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" TV animation series, the "POPTEPIC" TV animation series, and the "Ninja Batman" movie [Kamikaze Animation]. Kinema Citrus has produced a succession of high-profile animated films, including "Made in Abyss," "Rebirth of the Shield," and "The Rise of the Shield Hero. The film "Dawn of Ru's Song," which won numerous international film awards, and the animated television series "Don't Mess with the Visual Arts Institute! Science SARU," which has been highly acclaimed around the world.
Geno Studio is an up-and-coming studio that was established in 2015 and has produced high-profile works such as "Golden Kamui" and "Kikkoku". Studio Colorido is an animation studio that produced "Penguin Highway," which won the Best Animated Feature Film at the 42nd Japan Academy Prize. TRIGGER" has been enthusiastically supported by fans not only in Japan but also overseas with their animated TV series "Kill la Kill" and the movie "Promea".
TRIGGER is also known for the "Ghost in the Shell" series, "The Prince of Tennis" series, "PSYCHO-PASS: Psycho-Pass" series, "HIQUE! and "Eden of the East. A new Star Wars story will be depicted through the "vision" of Japanese animation creators who have produced works of the highest quality in the world.

This new collection of nine original animated short films that will expand the Star Wars galaxy will be available exclusively on Disney Plus from September 22, 2021 (Wednesday). In this special video, top Japanese animation creators who truly love Star Wars appear and talk about their passion for this project and their own work.
While inheriting the legacy of Star Wars, the film brings in the spirit of Japanese anime culture, including the delicacy and beauty of Japanese beauty, the "cuteness" unique to anime, and the overwhelming characterization, and fuses the two worldviews of Star Wars and Japanese anime.
