The original application game "DEEMO", on which the theatrical anime "DEEMO Sakura no Oto -The Sound You Played, Still Resonates-" is based, is a popular game that has been downloaded more than 28 million times worldwide. It has been announced that the theatrical animation project is a joint production between Pony Canyon and Production I.G. Group, which led "Shinkage no Kyojin" to become a worldwide hit.

The anime film adaptation will feature the theme song and image song by Yuki Kajiura, who has composed the music for numerous anime works including "Fate/Zero" and "Demon Slayer".

At Anime Japan 2021 held in March, it was announced that Akari Niu of the nationally known idol group "Hyuhizaka46" would be appearing in this work, "DEEMO Sakura no Oto -The Sound You Played, Still Resonates-". At the "Anime Expo Lite 2021" stage, voice actress Ayana Taketatsu and Ayane Sakura, who will play the role of the main character, Alice, the only casting announced at the time of the announcement of the theatrical anime project, took the stage.
