Wonder Festival 2021 [Autumn]," one of the world's largest sculpture and figure festivals, will be held on September 20 (Mon.)! The official key visual will be unveiled for the first time!

Wonder Festival, one of the world's largest plastic arts and figure festivals, which had to be postponed for a year due to the new coronavirus, will be held on September 20, 2021 (Monday, national holiday) at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

Wonder Festival, now in its 36th year, is one of the world's largest figure and modeling festivals, and since its relocation to Makuhari Messe in the summer of 2009, it has become a major event with approximately 2000 dealers (including 100 companies and 1900 general exhibitors) and over 50,000 participants every year, drawing great interest from fans not only in Japan but also overseas. It is a major event that attracts great interest not only from domestic but also from overseas fans.
Both professionals and amateurs alike bring the kits they have worked so hard to create to display and sell at the Wonder Festival. In 2018, "Wonder Festival 2018 Shanghai [Prestige]" will be held for the first time in Wonder Festival's history to expand overseas. The interest in figures among overseas users is also increasing.

The Wonder Festival Executive Committee has announced that Wonder Festival, one of the world's largest sculpture and figure festivals, will be held on September 20, 2021 (Monday, national holiday) at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, after being postponed for a year due to the new coronavirus. The company also announced that it will launch a new initiative to allow more people to enjoy the festival, while still respecting the philosophy it has up to now. As part of these efforts, a new official key visual was unveiled for the first time.
General admission tickets will go on sale on Monday, July 19.

Wonder Festival, now in its 36th year, will be held in the fall for the first time since it was first held in 1985, due in part to the new coronavirus. Currently, holding real events requires careful judgment and adequate countermeasures. However, the "Wonder Festival," a festival of plastic arts that brings together works of modeling, has always emphasized the importance of providing a place where people can see and feel the size, presence, and expressive power of the actual works and appreciate them. Therefore, it is precisely at times like this that the decision was made to go back to the basics, take all possible measures, and hold the festival in real life. This year's Wonder Festival will be restarted with enhanced efforts to increase the entertainment value and make more people aware of the good things that are available.

It was also decided that Toshinao Aoki would take charge of the new official key visual. For the first time, an official stage will be set up at the event, where new anime and games will be promoted, and the event will be streamed live.

■Wonder Festival Executive Committee Chairman, Executive Director Miyawaki comment
In the 29 years since 1992, when I became chairman of the Wonder Festival Executive Committee, Wonder Festival has grown over the years from 2,000 participants at the beginning to 50,000 modeling enthusiasts today, making it the world's largest modeling event. However, after nearly 40 years of history, I, who was in my 20s at the time, am now in my 60s, and the average age of the event's participants has been steadily increasing. Looking at the Shanghai OneFest held in Shanghai, China in June, most of the participants were in their 20s, and the situation where young people are looking up and creating wonderful and reckless works is something that we cannot easily do now, It is not easy for us to do that now.
For this reason, we will continue to conduct announcement and educational activities to encourage new modeling artists and visitors to participate in the onefest, and to further increase and expand the name recognition and brand power of the onefest. In the future, we would like to plan events that will be more enjoyable for participating amateur and corporate dealers (exhibitors) and participants alike.
We look forward to your cooperation in making more people aware of the appeal of Wanfest, the world's number one manufacturing event that began in Japan, where modeling works and artists gather.

Comment from Toshinao Aoki
It is a sobering experience to take over from Mr. Hotarunojo Mizutama and Mr. Kiyohiko Azuma. As for the theme of this year's painting, when I met Semmu Miyawaki before, we had a lively discussion about the 1970 Osaka World's Fair. I drew this picture thinking about what Wanda-chan and Lisette-chan would be dressed like if there was a "Wonder Festival" pavilion at the Osaka Expo.
