More than 70 artworks vividly depicting the world of "PATLABOR" are exhibited! Report on the "PATLABOR artworks exhibition" where you can enjoy the work of art director Teruhisa Tajima!

The "PATLABOR artworks exhibition," featuring more than 70 artworks from "Mobile Police Patlabor," is currently being held at Shibuya Marui in Tokyo.

The "PATLABOR artworks exhibition" is the first exhibition by Teruhisa Tajima, who has been involved in the "Mobile Police Patlabor" project since its inception and is in charge of art direction for the logo, package visuals, etc. The exhibition will be held from August 8 (Sunday) to September 5 (Sunday), 2021. The exhibition will be held from August 8 (Sun.) to September 5 (Sun.), 2021.

The event will feature more than 70 of Mr. Tajima's artworks to date. The world of "PATLABOR" is depicted in various styles.

The Akiba Research Institute editorial staff also visited the site this time. We would like to report on the atmosphere of the venue.

The first highlight of the exhibition is the "Digital Diorama Series. The artwork, which is a composite of plastic models and figures with actual scenery, is a must-see.

The "another Japanese landscape where the reaver is real" is very stimulating to the imagination.

Another highlight is the "Remix Series," in which past artwork is remade using modern graphic processing techniques.

Many people may have a strong impression of "Patlabor" artwork as characters and mecha drawn against a white background. In this exhibition, backgrounds have been added to such artwork and coloring has been modified to give the illustrations a new appeal.

There is also artwork using comic book versions and previously published illustrations.

Those who know the original works will be surprised at the new discoveries and surprises they will receive.

Other exhibits include illustrations and corporate logo designs that appear in the movie, allowing visitors to enjoy the world of "PATLABOR" even more.

In addition, the second teaser visual for the new "PATLABOR EZY" will be shown for the first time in Japan!

It depicts the latest design of "Ingram". We hope you can see with your own eyes what has been updated!

In addition, the partitions are decorated with "buti-ana" (a design of five holes used frequently by mecha designer Yutaka Izubuchi), and other playful touches are in full bloom.

Admission to the sales space is free. Various "PATLABOR" goods are on sale.

This exhibition shows how the visuals and artwork of "PATLABOR" were ahead of their time, and how they have a universality that does not fade away even if the times change. How universal are the visuals and artwork of "PATLABOR" that do not fade away with the changing times? Furthermore, you can see how well it fits in with new technologies.

With the recent outbreak of the new coronavirus, it may be difficult to visit the museum in person, but if you happen to be in Shibuya, I urge you to stop by.
