The "Thunderbirds 55th Anniversary Project" was launched to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the first broadcast in Japan. The "Thunderbirds 55/GOGO" project, which will be released as the centerpiece of the project, is a special edition of three episodes produced through crowdfunding by enthusiastic Thunderbirds fans in the U.K., and re-edited for the Japanese release.

These three episodes are the first time these episodes have been made into a film based on a script written as a radio drama at the time. As a tribute to the original, they were filmed using traditional Super Mario Nation techniques and brought back to life as a completely new film.

The special trailer for "Thunderbirds 55/GOGO" has now been released. The most famous of the original films, that Five! FOUR! Three! Two! One! countdown is brought back to life with new footage.
