Witness the truth behind Aoshima's new "Reaction" series by assembling the 1/48 Chancer from "Subspace Operation Slangle! 80's B-Grade Anime Plastic Model Natural History Vol. 14

Since I assembled a plastic model kit of a major anime such as "Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ" last time, this time I looked for a kit that is neither Gundam plastic model nor Bandai plastic model, but rather a kit that I might have found on the shelf of a model store in the 80's but never bought.
The result is the "Chancer," a trekker vehicle from "Subspace Operation Slangle" at ......! Aoshima Bunka Kyozai-sha made a beautiful plastic model of the Kokusai Eiga-sha animation, 1/48 scale, priced at 300 yen at the time (the official product name was "Captain Chance Trekker Vehicle Chancer CH-011G").

What's a "slangle" when you say it like that? It was the original idea of Masaru Yamamoto, who worked on "Ginga Senpu Braiger" and "Makai Densetsu Acrobanchi" (The Legend of the Magic Circle), both of which aired in January 1983. The robot animation that Mr. Yamamoto created at Kokusai Eigasha has a strong impression of light action with outlaws as the main characters, but "Slangle" is just a special team that happens to be riding on a robot-like mecha (trekker vehicle), and does not give the impression of a giant robot or hero story. The characters are all using their favorite Trekker Vehicles.
Each character uses a different type of trekker vehicle, and even the Slangle, which is the title of the film, is just one type of large trekker vehicle. I think this rough mechanical sense matches the atmosphere of the work, and I think it is rather serious.

▲ This is the "painting setting material" of the Chancer, a trekker vehicle for Captain Chance. Paint instructions are given in water-based hobby colors.

Trekker Vehicle is such a strange design, but in the ...... play, it is often flying smoothly, so the legs don't mean much. My guess is that, as far as the shape of the legs and the exposed cockpit are concerned, it was aimed along the lines of the walker machine in "Battle Mecha Zabungle" (1982).
The walker machine released by Bandai had military model-like details added to the product value, but now, in the case of Aoshima's Trekker Vehicle, I'm not sure ......? What's that on the box?

...... Eh? It says "REAL ACTION." I don't see the usual "Anime Scale" logo, but there is "1/48 ANIME SCALE REAL ACTION MODEL SERIES NO.1" printed on the top of the box. What is this, "Series NO.1"? Is this a new line of Aoshima's plastic model of slangles? Moreover, REAL ACTION = "reaction". Did you know that?

It's an unimportant detail, but the enclosed postcard was addressed to "Reaction Sales Planning Group 1, Aoshima Bunka Kyozai Sha Co. What's this spiritedness? It's both frightening and exciting. Anyway, let's take a look at the parts!

The squares are the intakes at the front and rear of the fuselage. It may be due to the white molding color, but it looks a bit dull. Also, there is a gun located in the center of the fuselage. Well, I guess this is just a loose modeling, and these sweet details are cute!

▲ This runner is a leg. The shape of the side of this shin looks just like Trad 11 from "ZABUNGLE. But even if the shape is taken down a bit, as long as the concept of the mechanism is new, I think it's fine. The large and small holes in the lower part are mysterious, but it seems to be a foothill.

As far as I could tell from the parts, the price is only 300 yen. But it's a REAL ACTION series, right? You may find out what REAL ACTION is when you assemble it!
