The "Tale of the Heike," which was passed down by biwa poets and had a great influence on later literature and drama, is a great classic that describes the rise and fall of the Heike clan. This is the first TV animation adaptation by an elite creator based on Hideo Furukawa's translation, which is an overwhelming narrative.
The anime features the original character "Biwa" (CV. Aoi Yuuki) as the main character and narrator of the story. The story revolves around Biwa's interaction with the people of the Heike clan, including Kiyomori Taira (CV: Tetsuaki Genda)'s eldest son Shigemori (CV: Takahiro Sakurai) and his younger sister Tokuko (CV: Saori Hayami), and is not limited to historical episodes but also develops into a group drama of people who lived their lives at the mercy of the times.
The production will also feature the voices of renowned voice actors such as Natsuki Hanae and Hiroki Kaji.
The staff was also announced. Naoko Yamada will direct, and Reiko Yoshida will write the series composition and script. Manga artist Fumiko Takano will be in charge of her first animation character draft.
Music is by Kensuke Ushio, and animation production is by "Don't Mess with the Video Lab! (original story by Hideo Furukawa, directed by Masaaki Yuasa), which will be released in theaters in early summer 2022.
PV is now on view.

<Director Naoko Yamada comments
I wanted to sincerely face the important stories of people who lived in the past.
I thought "The Tale of the Heike" was as endless as the universe itself, but I found it to be a very colorful and deeply emotional work. I hope it will sink into everyone's heart.
I hope it will sink into your hearts.
