After endless fierce battles with the Imperial Star Gatlantis, Yamato and Susumu Ancient have achieved a return from the difficult higher dimensional realms in exchange for a great price. However, a new war awaits them in the universe.
This film brings together all of the elements that have been present since the highly-rated 1979 TV special "Space Battleship Yamato: The New Departure"! The film takes on the challenge of a thorough reconstruction with "Yamato's Next Generation Crew" and "Interstellar War at the Galactic Level" at its core.
The film also has a deeper drama with the participation of new crew members such as Tasuke Tokugawa and Ryusuke Domon, the unexpected boarding of old crew members, and the suffering of Susumu Ancient, who literally survived with the fate of mankind on his shoulders. A major space epic unfolds, beginning with the tragedies that befell the binary stars of Gamilas and Iscandar, and the conflict between the Federation of Bora and the mysterious Black Fleet and the forces of Deshler.

Composed by Harutoshi Fukui, this film reconstructs the history of the Space Battleship Yamato from the Apollo moon landing in 1969, the exploration of space, the great voyage to Iskandar in 2199, to the Battle of Gatlantis in 2202, and recreates the entire record of battles that are etched in human history and space history. The film is 120 minutes of wailing lamentations, rebuilt with new cuts and newly recorded narration!
