In 2012, Takara Tomy Arts dared to release its national backgammon game software, which has a history of more than 30 years, as a paper board game. Now, with the release of the new game software, the game has been renewed as a 2025 version.

The concept of "Momotetsu" has been retained, and the "Momotetsu" board game is a physical embodiment of the video game atmosphere, with specifications that also provide an analog feel as a backgammon game. The game can be played by actually touching the dice, cards, and trains that appear on the game software.

The rules of the game are almost the same as those of the game software. The player spreads out a board with a map of Japan, and places locomotive-shaped pieces on the board to reach a destination.
