Traditional blue wings soaring through the skies of Japan! I made the "F-86 Blue Impulse Full Action"! Shokugan Road Vol.25

Hello everyone! This is Kariyasu☆, a hobby writer. In this corner, I will be reviewing, remodeling, and playing around with some of the popular Shokugan toys and miniatures that interest me, under the theme of "Shokugan for Adults. The 25th issue is the "Full Action F-86 Blue Impulse" from FTOIDS!

You can buy a fighter plane at a reasonable price, assemble it quickly, and after completion, you can not only display it but also move it and play with it in various ways. ...... This full-action series fulfills everyone's ideal. The Blue Impulse version of the F-86, which flew in the opening ceremony of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, is now available as the seventh model in the series!

About the Blue Impulse

The Blue Impulse is an acrobatic flight team of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, officially known as the 11th Wing, 4th Wing, Air Wing, and has been performing spectacular formation flying at ceremonies and events since its establishment in 1960. (I was able to see it safely from my balcony!) Incidentally, the nickname "Blue Impulse" is derived from "Impulse," the call sign of the unit at that time, and "Blue," the TAC name (personal code name of the pilot) of the formation leader.

All parts are pre-colored and decals are included. The aircraft number can be selected from 5 different types, and spare numbers are provided. Also, since there are so many precision parts, be careful not to damage or lose them when processing!

Tools needed: Nippers, tweezers, design knife (cutter)

Fuselage Description

The "F-86" (commonly known as the "Sabre") is a jet fighter developed by North American Corporation, which was deployed in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 and played an active role in the Korean War that broke out the following year, shooting down many enemy aircraft. In Japan, the Blue Impulse was produced under license by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and deployed as the first mainstay fighter of the Air Self-Defense Force, but it gradually became obsolete, and was retired by the Self-Defense Force in 1982 and completely retired by other air forces in the 1990s.

Speaking of the Blue Impulse, its beautiful livery is still very attractive. To make the white paint stand out, I placed it on a black sheet and photographed it.

It also looks great displayed on a mirrored sheet!

The backside of the fuselage is also cool!

As expected of a full-action model! It moves in various ways!

The model is full of exciting gimmicks that are hard to find in regular plastic models! Move it around and play with it as much as you like!

Auxiliary wings, elevator rudder, directional rudder and other parts are movable!

The cockpit is also realistic and the canopy slides out!
Speaking of canopies on model airplanes, modelers have to cut them off to show the cockpit, or have to choose between open or closed canopies, but with this one, there is no need to worry about it!

The main and front legs can be retracted to recreate the flight state!

Various hatches can be opened and removed! When applying the decals to the hatches, be sure to use a cutter to cut a good slit in the hatch area!

The machine gun and engine are also well reproduced and can be removed after assembly for viewing! The metallic parts glimpsed through the gaps in the colorfully painted fuselage are irresistible. ......

Take cool photos at home!

Parked airplanes look cool, but airplanes have to fly! So, let's try to take pictures of the scene in flight.

Of course, the easiest and most realistic way is to shoot outdoors in natural light, as in the photo at the top of this article, but sometimes it is difficult to shoot outdoors because of inclement weather or lack of a suitable shooting location. In such cases, try setting up a shooting booth in your own room!

Just print and paste your own photo of the sky or a free blue sky image onto the simple booth, and shoot with it in the background. If you do not have a simple booth, you can use a large styrene board as a substitute.

If you crop the image and adjust brightness, highlights, etc., it will look like this! Incidentally, in this sample photo, the entire fuselage is brightened without regard to the position of the sun (in reality, backlighting will not make it look like this), but don't think too hard and enjoy shooting.

It is also fun and easy to take pictures with an emphasis on the atmosphere, and to keep in mind that this is an indoor photo shoot!

If you replace the background photo, you can create a different atmosphere. You can also use a pilot figure from a plastic model of a jet plane and place it in the cockpit to make it look more realistic.
