Call of Duty Vanguard Open Beta Play Report. Covers small to large groups! Enjoy high-speed matches in large groups!

An open beta test of "Call of Duty: Vanguard," scheduled for release on November 5, 2021 (Friday), is being held from September 17 (Friday) to 21 (Tuesday). This article provides a play report of the open beta test. The report will cover the overall speed of the game, gun customization, and other noteworthy elements.

High-speed matches unfold on a small map

In this open beta test, we were able to experience the multiplayer first hand. The rules available include "Team Deathmatch," in which the first team to kill a certain number of opponents wins; "Kill Confirmed," in which players try to recover the tags of defeated opponents; "Domination," in which players fight over three positions; "Patrol," in which players fight over an area that keeps moving; and "Search and Destroy," in which players fight to destroy targets or defend them. In addition to these, there are five types of games: "Search & Destroy," in which players are divided into two groups: those who destroy targets and those who defend them.

In addition, players can choose how large they want to play each rule. TACTICAL" can be played by 12 players, "ASSAULT" by up to 28 players, and "BLITZ" by up to 48 players. In a domination game, the TACTICAL mode allows players to play with fewer players, making the division of roles between those defending their own position and those attacking the enemy's position more important, resulting in a tense and exciting experience. On the other hand, if the game is played in BLITZ mode, a large number of players will be involved in a festive atmosphere, allowing the players to enjoy a pure shooting match rather than a tactical battle. The combination of rules and the scale of the battle changes the way to play and enjoy the game.

With the exception of Search & Destroy, which has no resurrection, all rules are basically fast-paced. A short run after respawning (resurrection) and you can encounter the enemy right away. With the exception of "Red Star," which is based on the city of Stalingrad in the former Soviet Union, all the maps I was able to play this time were small in area, and when I played, many medium or larger frameworks such as ASSAULT and BLITZ were chosen, which may have been significant.

Of the two streak systems, "Killstreak," in which various weapon weapons can be used depending on the number of players killed in a row, and "Scorestreak," in which the killstreak requirement changed to the score earned, the previous "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War" (hereafter, CoD :BOCW) employed "score streaks," but only kill streaks were seen in this open beta.

As the number of consecutive kills is directly related to the streak one gets, players will move to avoid dying, and as a result, they tend to be reluctant to do so. However, as already mentioned, all of the matches we experienced during our trial run were fast-paced, and we did not see many situations where players were forced to wait and see what would happen. However, in a small-group tactical game, the presence of each player is significant, making it difficult to play blindly and rush into the game. When I played, it was easy for the battle to become deadlocked. If you are looking for intense matches, I would recommend the medium-sized ASSAULT or the large-scale BLITZ.

I played for about 6 hours on PS4 Pro this time, and I was impressed by the fact that there were almost no processing glitches, regardless of the number of players. I was impressed by the fact that there were almost no processors down, regardless of the number of players.

Customizable elements to assemble your favorite gun from a vast array of parts

The guns in this title can be customized with various parts for each part. This system, called "gunsmithing," was first implemented in "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" ("CoD:MW") and is also present in the battle royale "Call of Duty: Warzone," which is still available.

There are so many items that can be customized, such as the barrel, magazine, sights, grip, gun bed, and bullets ......, and the parts that are changed are reflected in the appearance of the gun. The initial number of slots available for customization is 10. Considering that "CoD:MW" had a maximum of 5 slots and "CoD:BOCW" had a maximum of 8 slots (to increase the number of slots to the maximum, special equipment is required), the degree of freedom for customization in this title is quite large.

Furthermore, the performance of each part is quantified, so it is possible to determine what is enhanced and what is reduced. This can be a useful reference when creating a customization that enhances a specific performance, such as for close quarters or long distance use. Depending on the player's approach, a submachine gun that is strong at close range can be made to look like an assault rifle by extending its range, while an assault rifle can be made to look like a submachine gun in close combat.

When I think of weapons from the World War II period, I personally think of them as they were manufactured, without many parts to attach to them due to their antiquity. It was very interesting to see such weapons being reshaped with different parts. Both "CoD:MW" and "CoD:BOCW" were set in the present day, so this is the only "CoD" game based on World War II that currently has a "gunsmith," and perhaps that's what made me feel fresh.

Although I was able to experience only a part of the multiplayer game, as a person who enjoys loud shootouts, I especially enjoyed the ASSAULT and BLITZ games. I can't wait for the official release of this title.
