Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) today released DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT for PS5 in Japan on Friday, September 24, 2021.

DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT" adds new elements to "DEATH STRANDING," which was released on PS4 in 2019 and made a splash that year, and is directed by Hideo Kojima. The film is a remastered version for PS5, directed by Hideo Kojima as DIRECTOR'S CUT.

A phenomenon called "Death Stranding" and a mysterious entity called "BT" have divided people and cities. In such a devastated society, human beings have lost their "connection" with each other and are now on the verge of extinction. Sam Porter Bridges, with hope for the future in his hands, sets out to reconnect the world.

The film features a cast of world-class actors including Norman Reedus, who plays the main character Sam, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and Lindsay Wagner. The innovative game experience created by Hideo Kojima and highly acclaimed around the world can be enjoyed on PS5.

DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT" is packed with many additional specifications and gameplay improvements. For example, new weapons and equipment, such as the "maser gun" and "support skeleton," have been added to enrich the experience and make it easier to play.

To make delivery more comfortable, a "luggage catapult," a cannon-like device that can send packages flying over great distances, a "jump platform" that allows vehicles to overcome obstacles, and a new "auto tracker," which becomes the player's new partner, have been added. The "automatic tracking robot," which will become the player's new partner, has been added as well as other construction and vehicles.

The "Training Field" for weapon practice, the "Race Track" for ranking against other players, and many other new modes, missions, areas, expanded storylines, and UI additions make the game even more fun to play than its predecessor. The additional content will offer a fresh new experience to those who have played the previous game.
New online features include a friend play system that allows players to connect with registered friends on a priority basis, and a ranking system that allows players to compete against each other.

The game is also compatible with save data from "DEATH STRANDING" for PS4, allowing those who have played the previous title to enjoy the game as is.
