A new story, "The Story of the Sun and the Moon," will be released on October 20, 2021 (Wednesday) in the smartphone title "NieR Re[in]carnation" (NieR Reincarnation). At the same time, a countdown campaign will be held.

This is the first smartphone title in Square Enix's "NieR" series. The story begins when a girl wakes up in a mysterious cage. Guided by a character who calls herself "Mama," the girl restores the "weapon's memory," which has a distorted ending, and recovers what she has lost.
