Netflix Festival Japan 2021 Special】I want to be a director at Netflix! Part 3: "TSUDAKEN TIME" Report: Kenjiro Tsuda's creative spirit was on full display.

Netflix Festival Japan 2021" <Anime Day> was held on November 9, 2021.

Netflix Festival Japan 2021" is an annual event held by Netflix to announce new releases, and this year it was held over two days on November 9 and 10, with an "Anime Day" on the 9th for anime films scheduled for release this fall or later, and a "Live Action Day" on the 10th, On the 10th, live-action movies and dramas scheduled to be released this fall or later were announced.

This time, we report on the third part of the event, which featured a special Netflix anime dialogue and the "TSUDAKEN TIME" stage featuring voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda.

Part 3 began with a special Netflix anime dialogue, "The Cutting Edge of Discovering the Next Generation of Talent.

Netflix anime producer Kosuke Ohara was the MC for this session, along with Shuhei Hosono, editor-in-chief of Shueisha's Shonen Jump+, and WIT STUDIO president Takeshi Wada.

Through Netflix, how do we disseminate Japanese content to the world? They also talked about their efforts to discover new talents.

The second half of Part 3 was the "TSUDAKEN TIME" stage, featuring voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda, who has starred in Netflix original animations such as "Kyokushudo-do" and "Super Crux" and has appeared in many other Netflix productions, and has become an indispensable presence on Netflix.

The huge screen on the stage cracked open, and Kenjiro Tsuda made his dashing entrance through the backlight and smoke, immediately revealing the "Tsudaken PV". This video is a special video featuring characters that Mr. Tsuda has played on Netflix.

Upon seeing this video, Mr. Tsuda smiled and said, "I am happy to see so many strong characters.

It was then announced that Mr. Tsuda will play the main character, Lucius, in "Thermae Romae Novae," scheduled for distribution in 2022.

Lucius, a bathhouse designer in ancient Rome, is a dark-faced man who appears nearly naked in every episode. I was impressed by Mr. Tsuda's happy comment about the new character, "This is another strong role.

This work is based on the original comic book, with new episodes written by Mari Yamasaki, the author of the original story.

Super Crux" is scheduled for worldwide exclusive distribution on November 25, 2021. The main character, Johnny, played by Tsuda, is an outlaw character, just like Ryu in "Kyokushukyudo. He has an outlaw voice," commented Mr. Tsuda, eliciting laughter from the audience.

In the middle part of the talk, Mr. Tsuda talked again about the charms of Ryu from "Kyokushudomichi," Johnny from "Super Crux," and Lucius from "Thermae Romae Novae," all of which he plays.

About Ryu, Tsuda said, "He is a man who lives life to the fullest when it comes to housework, and it's cute how he vacillates between that and the housework. He is originally a very strong and powerful man, but he is also kind. I think he has a nice gap between the two. It was fun to play him, even though I thought he was an idiot. We got a lot of reactions from people overseas, and it was refreshing to see how interesting things like tatami mats and Japanese household chores are. I am a househusband representing Japan," he commented.

As for "super-crooks" Johnny, although he is still in the pre-distribution stage, so I can't talk about detailed episodes, he said, "He seems to be relaxed, but he's also quite a clunker. Johnny also has a gap, and I like that. The film itself has pop parts and there are a lot of no-good guys in it, so I hope people will enjoy the gap between comedy and seriousness.

And of Lucius in "Thermae Romae Novae," he said, "Lucius is serious. That's what makes him interesting. He is a neat person, so you have to be neat (when you play him)," he said.

Mr. Tsuda also said that he tried his hand at ancient Latin in this film. He revealed that he had brought in a staff member to supervise his performance, and that he had tried to make it realistic.

After this, the audience was invited to look back on the Netflix original films in which Mr. Tsuda appeared, in addition to the three titles mentioned above.

Among the titles such as "DEVILMAN crybaby," "HERO MASK," "Baki" series, "KENGAN ASHRA," "Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045," "ULTRAMAN," "RESLEEVED," "Bright Samurai Soul," "7SEEDS," and many more, Tsuda took a look back at some of the most impressive works. Mr. Tsuda looks back on some of the most impressive works.

In "DEVILMAN crybaby," his first Netflix animated film, Tsuda played the role of Kouji Nagasaki, a cameraman. I had the most exciting and fun time on the set. I was entrusted to do the acting first, so I tried to act strong at first, but I ended up going through with it," he said. For "ULTRAMAN," he said, "I had to act on a large scale as if I were acting in a Shakespearean play.

When asked, "If Netflix could do everything in its power to fulfill your request, what would it be? He also said that he would like to work with Netflix from the planning stage.

Netflix has been releasing challenging and ambitious works one after another in recent years, so there is no lack of possibilities! It will be interesting to see what the future holds.

The last part of the stage was devoted to questions from Kenjiro Tsuda's fans around the world who had sent in their questions via Twitter.

Every Monday, Tsuda-san posts on Twitter, "Will you work hard this week? and asked him to say it live.

Mr. Tsuda shyly did just that. Not only was he cool, but he also showed us his cute side.

He also performed the memorable lines of Ryu from "Kyokushudanmichi" and Johnny from "Super Crux" live.
An interesting point is that each character has a different body language.
Ryu, a former Kyokudo, is ready for battle in both expression and body language! (However, his line is mischievous: "I won't buy any more games for selfish kids! ). I was surprised to see that Johnny was wearing a sexy, almost masculine look.
As one would expect from Mr. Tsuda, who is also active on the stage and in live-action productions.

Finally, when asked, "If you were to send a message to your younger self, what would it be? Tsuda replied, "You will meet so many wonderful works, characters, staff, and viewers. I have a lot of good times ahead of me. The stage ended with a comment indicating that he is very fulfilled with his current life.
