New Anime "Demon-kun" Announces New Visual and First Cast! Yuko Mita (first Demon-kun) and Toshio Furukawa (Mephisto II) to continue!

The "Shigeru Mizuki 100th Birthday Commemoration Project" is being developed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the manga artist Shigeru Mizuki. A follow-up report on the new anime "Demon-kun," which has been announced to be produced as part of the project, has been released.

Akuma-kun" is one of Shigeru Mizuki's masterpieces and tells the story of Akuma-kun, a boy genius who is chosen only once every 10,000 years to create an ideal world where there is no conflict and no hunger, with the help of demons and the Twelve Apostles, including Mephistopheles.

The first manga was published in 1963, when Shigeru Mizuki was a rental book cartoonist, and was later serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine and Weekly Shonen Jump with different contents.
In 1989, it was made into an animated TV series, which was popular mainly among elementary and junior high school students at the time, and continues to be loved by people of all ages even now, more than 30 years after the TV anime was broadcast.

In the new animation produced as a 100th anniversary commemorative project, Junichi Sato, who was the series director of the TV animation broadcast in 1989, will serve as the general director, Fumitoshi Ozaki as the series director, and Hiroshi Onogi as the series composition, and the strongest tag team will portray "Demon-kun" of a new era.

At the "Animation Special Screening "Demon-kun" Special Day" held during the "Gegege-teki-no-Kitaro 2021" event being held in Chofu City, Tokyo until November 30, the anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's death, new visuals were unveiled, and Yuko Mita, who played the first Demon-kun, and Toshio Furukawa, who played Mephisto II, continued their roles in the film, It was also announced that Mr. Furukawa will play the role of "Mephisto III," a character new to the series.

The new visual depicts the main character, Ichiro Ureshiki, the second Demon-kun, and "Mephisto III," a new character to appear in the new work, sitting on a rubble in a dark atmosphere of red and black.

The copy asks, "What is your 'happiness'? What is the meaning of the copy that asks the question, "What is your 'happiness'?
And could this rubble be the centerpiece of the film?

Furukawa will also voice Mephisto II & Mephisto III!
The two have also commented on the decision to continue the cast!

Yuko Mita played the role of Shingo Uzuregi-kun/Uzuregi-kun, the main character of the TV animation "Akuma-kun" broadcasted in 1989,
Toshio Furukawa, who played Mephisto II, one of the Twelve Apostles and a close friend of Shingo Umbaregi-kun, will continue to play the same role in this work, and he will also voice the new character "Mephisto III.
Auditions are currently underway for the "second Demon-kun," who will be the main character of the film, and the cast will be announced at the "Shigeru Mizuki 100th Birthday Festival" in March 2022.

When the new visuals of the characters were announced along with the release of information about the start of the new series of the "Akuma-kun" anime, I had given up on the idea that all the voice actors would be replaced, so when I learned that I would be playing "Mephisto II" again, and even the new character "Mephisto III," I was very much looking forward to the 6th season of "Gegege Kitaro. I was so happy that I jumped up and down, just like when I was chosen to play "Nezumi Otoko" in the 6th season of "Gegege no Kitaro".
I will do my best so that I will not betray the expectations of my fans.
